Women use RunSafe to share their real-time location with trusted family and friends, plan safer routes, and move with real-time peace of mind.

A little insight into how many women runners feel. I always feel on edge because things can happen at night, or at noon, in the woods or literally down the street from your house.

Even the unnoticeable actions that women take to stay safe is absurd.

Women should never have to be so concerned for their safety that they don’t even realize their own actions, such as looking over their shoulder.

Women…what safety measures do you do that make you feel safer?

i have a few years of mostly running alone under my belt, and more than one sketchy situation i have found myself in.

as a woman actively working through a PTSD diagnosis related to assault, i have found so much healing from running. at the same time, i have had moments out there alone that have left me terrified and these are just some things i’ve personally implemented to feel a little more safe.

#1. find a friend or a group to run with. there’s safety in numbers. austin ladies - my friends @katherinekalill and @ngozimusa have started an amazing women only group called @yourmothersruncrew that i highly recommend.

#2. i almost never run alone in the dark. if i do, i stick very closely to my home. yes, this is a tough one. which leads me to the next point

#3. i opt for the treadmill on days that my only option is to run in the dark alone

#4. i share my location on my phone and my garmin with people i trust and make sure someone knows when i’m off for a run alone

#5. i keep my routes/location data hidden on public apps like strava

#6. i opt for public, well trafficked routes where i’ll be around more runners/walkers

#7. i trust my gut. i have been followed, and it’s not a fun feeling. i pick up the phone and call someone if something feels off, stay on the phone with them and get back to an area that feels safe as quickly as possible.

none of these are meant to scare anyone, but it never hurts to be thinking a little extra about your own safety while you’re out there doing the thing you love.

Running on the treadmill should NOT be the only place women feel safe while running or walking.

We cannot keep telling women to run at different times of the day or to just “run on the treadmill.”

The reality of it is, women feel unsafe in their everyday lives and constantly take safety measures to protect themselves. And sometimes…we don’t even realize we are taking these precautions. They have become NORMAL! And that’s just not okay.

With RunSafe, we are changing the game. Women can run ANYTIME and ANYWHERE with our incredible safety app. Download the app today!

The amount of precautions women roll through their head before they step out the door for a run is INSANE!!

- Is it dark?
- Do I need a pepper spray?
- Should I share my location?

And the list goes on and on…

But one thing that is always here to help women stay safe while they are exercising is RunSafe!

We are here to protect ALL women.

No outfit, location, or time of day should ever stop a woman from doing what she loves.
