AEC Kentucky Volunteers

Wow! What an amazing week and an even more amazing group of volunteers. There were 284 volunteers that filled 645 shifts! We received compliments all week on what a wonderful group of volunteers we had.

Thank you all so much for being incredibly generous with your time and enduring the extreme heat and humidity with a smile on your face! We sincerely appreciate you!

It’s that time of year again! The 2024 AEC volunteer page is up and running at https://www.eventingvolunteers.com/events/3361/signup

The dates are August 27 – September 1, but we’ll also need volunteers prior to the start date in order to get everything set up, i.e. decorating cross-country. In addition, we have a new division this year…Starter!

Another successful AEC in the books! Thank you to the over 300 volunteers who helped to make it happen! You answered our call for help, giving generously of your time with smiles on your faces and words of encouragement to the competitors. We appreciate all you do and feel lucky to have worked with such a dedicated group of volunteers! Wishing you all a fun and relaxing Labor Day!

Saturday is the first Strides for Equality Equestrians Day at AEC! The USEA supports Strides for Equality’s mission to promote visibility and allyship for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and Person of Color) equestrians.

If you wish to show your own support for SEE’s mission, wear purple on Saturday. And if you want to enter SEE’s saddle pad giveaway, post a picture of yourself in your purple on Saturday, follow and tag and tag your photo ! Fun Fact #2: This year’s AEC will be the 3rd largest eventing competition ever run in North America with 859 entries! The 1st and 2nd events were the AEC we hosted in 2021 and 2019. That’s A LOT of horses! And it takes A LOT of volunteers to help get them through the event. We still need scribes, warm up stewards, in gate stewards, bit check, score runners, xc jump videographers, etc. You get the idea…we need your help! Guess what’s new this year! A dedicated volunteer tent! A place to get out of the sun, get a cold beverage, eat your lunch (water/box lunch provided or you can buy something from one of the food trucks), pick up your volunteer gifts, sit down, relax and hang out with your besties comparing all the great rides you’ve seen. Fun Fact: Did you know we have over 740 volunteer shifts that all help to make the week long American Eventing Championships (AEC) happen? Wow! Thursday is our biggest day with 173 volunteer shifts.
