This striking suit of armor from 16th-century Japan’s Azuchi-Momoyama period was crafted to protect warriors in battle while allowing fluid movement. Made from materials like leather, iron, and silk, it reflects both the practicality and refined aesthetic of the samurai who wore it.

On loan from the Frazier Kentucky History Museum in Louisville, this piece offers a rare glimpse into the craftsmanship and culture of Japan’s legendary warriors.

Visit the International Museum of the Horse and dive into Japan’s rich equestrian heritage through our immersive exhibit: Uma no Kokoro, Heart of the Horse. 🐴
