I see a lot of people looking for work via social media . ... I am looking for a SOLID deckhand. First of all- I Do Not have a “cry room” on board. - (and never will! )You need a balance of aloha spirit towards our guests and tough skin to be part of this team and to do this job. Doing the bare minimum is unacceptable ! Deckhand work is not for the lazy or weak at heart & mind. If you can’t handle being challenged to be your best by your captain , than this isn’t for you. Showing up late or not showing up at all - your fired. Positive drug test - your fired - treating our guests badly- your fired . Pretty simple . Is this job glamorous ? Most of the time it can be -Calm seas , blue water , trade winds and sunshine , wonderful guests ..catching a lot of fish . And then some times it’s 8-10 ft with 20-25 Knot winds and your wrestling with a 400 # marlin while your guests are puking all over the deck. When it’s busy , it’s really busy, when it’s slow, it’s really slow . Our clientele is 90% tourists. Our business flow revolves around tourism.
