Atlanta Isshinryu Karate

A few pics from the 26th Annual South Alabama Karate Open. As always, it was a great tournament with strong competition.

Mr. Edgar Hernandez took 3rd Place in Men’s Sparring and Mr. Jamahl Berry took 2nd Place in Men’s Empty Hand Forms and Men’s Sparring. Congratulations to both competitors!

Hello everyone. Atlanta Isshinryu will be attending the 26th Annual South Alabama Karate Open this Saturday, June 13th. Sensei Mark Rudd’s tournament is always a highlight of the year - great tournament and great people. We hope to see you there!

With deep regret and sadness, Atlanta Isshinryu announces the passing of Sensei Ronnie Brasher. Sensei was a 9th Dan under first generation GM Ed Johnson. He was a dedicated and patient teacher who touched many lives over the years. Sensei Collins and I first trained with Sensei at Sensei John Lloyd's Atlanta dojo back in the early 1990's. Sensei greatly enhanced our knowledge of Kobudo and of weapons and empty hand Bunkai. Later after Sensei Lloyd's retirement, we had the honor of training under Sensei Brasher for many years. He was a good man and a strong advocate for traditional Isshinryu training. He will be missed. May he rest in peace.
