I think we’re going to see a lot more college basketball games played in Europe following the Notre Dame vs. Villanova game.

With more European players coming to play college basketball in the United States, these games create opportunities beyond just growing the schools’ brands internationally.

College coaches can use these trips to scout European prospects, while European professional teams get the chance to watch American college players who may eventually pursue careers overseas instead of in the NBA.

It’s a great opportunity for everyone involved, and I wouldn’t be surprised if more schools start scheduling games in Europe.

The Indiana Pacers may have waited too long to trademark their famous slogan!

The Pacers filed for “In 49 States It’s Just Basketball, But This Is Indiana.”

However, another applicant had already filed for “In 49 States It’s Just Football, But This Is Indiana.”

The Pacers may still be able to obtain trademark registration based on their earlier use of the slogan, but the process could take much longer and be significantly more expensive. If they had filed years ago, they might already have their registration and avoided this headache altogether!

Crocs is suing Five Below for trademark infringement, but their names aren’t even similar!

The issue isn’t the names. It’s the design of the shoes.

Crocs has trademark registrations protecting aspects of its distinctive shoe design, known as trade dress.

Trade dress is a type of trademark protection that can cover the distinctive appearance of a product or its packaging, such as its shape, design, or overall look, when it identifies the brand.

Crocs argues that Five Below’s shoes are too similar and could cause consumer confusion or dilute its famous brand.

But just because two products look similar doesn’t automatically mean trademark infringement.
