Remember, New Years resolutions are great. They are even better this time of the year knowing you stayed the course on last year's resolution. I chose to be strong 7 years ago. So many others have as well. Choose strength for yourself this year, and be proud of your accomplishments in December 2024.
This morning I was thinking about strength. More importantly WHY strength is so important. There's a simple answer, physical strength is the most important thing we as people can give to our body's. Then there's the real world answer. When you are 15 years old strength could be the difference between starting on the basketball or football team and not. When you're 18 it just may determine which college you get to go to, and how much you will pay. At 22 you're going to want to want to save the money on the movers between apartments each year. When you turn 30 you are going to want to carry the groceries in for your spouse, save some money on landscapers. DIY projects and be useful to your family and community. Be able to play with your kids and nieces/nephews. In our 40s 50s strength is even more important. Because now our bodies are actually losing muscle mass each year. Carrying and filling your own water softener pellets. Carrying groceries, shoveling the driveway and sidewalk. Not to mention those kids and grandkids are getting heavier. 60s 70s and 80s the grand babies need grandma and grandpa to be strong. Strength at this point is a gift that our moms, dads and grandparents give back to us. Active parents and strong grandparents are healthier, less prone to injuries and falls, more independent. Increasing bone density. Less likely to end up in a nursing home. Which means more quality time spent with the people you love, doing the things that you love, in the home that you love. 90+ is a rare breed of person. I think they strength train because they are wise enough to know the importance of all of the things I just thought about. But what do I know I'm just a 30 year old kid.

Bigger, stronger kids beat smaller and weaker kids. Strength is so important at the high school level. This kid is a state champion wrestler, and a dominant defensive lineman for his high school in Texas. People talk about how "they grow them bigger in texas" or "they have better athletes in Texas". I don't believe that. There are uber talented kids in each state at every sport. But TEXAS high schools have higher quality strength and Conditioning programs. If your child is not being taught to squat, press/bench, deadlift and clean properly. If they aren't also adding weight to these movements regularly. They are not going to be ready for their competition..... especially if this kid is lined up across from them. You are not ready to compete if your competition is 2x stronger than you. Hard work beats talent, when talent doesn't work hard. Strength is the ultimate equalizer in athletics. Increasing your numbers in the weight room is the truest test of hard work and competent coaching. Work hard, work smart, do your heavy squats, presses, and pulls regularly.

Veronica Tharnish is one of my great friends. She lifts weights with me at the gym. She decided awhile back that she wanted to skydive. When she sets her mind to something, she is going to do it. Very proud of her.
Stronger is always better.
Lincoln 88-year-old checks another item off her bucket list An 88-year-old Lincoln woman checked another item off her bucket list when she went skydiving for the first time.
Grandpa Gary squatted 200lbs today at the young age of 74. A little side note he is about 10 months recovered from a knee replacement. Pre replacement he was squatting 185lbs. He had good knee days and bad knee days. Post operation we brought him back slowly and added weight little by little. Today marked not only a PR, but a pain free PR. His last words out the door were.... "well we should do 205 next week". Janecek Strength and Conditioning Northern Barbell Strength Training, LLC
The last few weeks I've been able to sit back and reflect on how blessed I am. 6 years ago I (with the help of so many people) started a new hobby. That hobby grew into an idea. That idea turned into a business. Today marks my 3 year anniversary of leaving my full time job to take the leap into the small business world. All that I've been through navigating the small business world. Changing locations a few times. To the pandemic and the challenges that came with maneuvering that new hurdle. To all of my clients who have stuck with me from the "garage days" and the others who have joined along the way. Thank you so much for placing your trust in me. None of this would be possible without you and your effort.
