Tennessee Tech is the first university in the Southeast to certify PE Teachers in fly fishing instruction using the National Fishing in Schools Program's "Cast A Fly, Catch A Student" curriculum. TN Tech is certifying its PE majors to teach the program so that they can share the sport with their students when they leave with their teaching degrees.

Tennessee Technological University (TTU) has implemented NFSP into its programming. This semester TTU will be certifying future educators how to teach the "Cast A Fly, Catch A Student" fly fishing curriculum.
Dr. David Mann, Assistant Professor of Exercise Science, shared his thoughts as he prepares to teach his students the NFSP.
"I can't wait to share NFSP with our students. I sure am liking this equipment. The weather has been pretty funky this Tennessee winter, but yesterday, the president of our fly-fishing student club and I turned up some reggae/beach music, set up a couple of fly rods, and caught and released several FishTargets (tarpon and permit) in this old gym. Life is good."
