Belly Dancer Problems:

That moment when you're trying to zone out to mellow belly dance tunes before you start getting ready & get the crap scared out of you by unexpected zaghareeting!! 😲

I shared this on our Phoenix Rising Studio page, but wanted to get the word out here as well...

Some, but not many folks knew about "the impending doom" of our studio.

We have known for a few years now that the state had a road/railroad construction plan in the works for the area.
At first we weren't sure we'd be affected... then that was confirmed.
Then we found out in 2025 construction wasn't set to start for 7-8 years, so we breathed a sigh of relief to have time to figure this all out... Wrong!

We will now have to be out by as early as mid this year. 😭😭😭

Unfortunately commercial space has gone sky high since 12 years ago when we found our humble dance home.
Therefore the plan has become to combine home & studio.

As some who know me more personally, know that in 2023 I was laid off & shortly after losing my job, lost my home. Some dear friends took me in, and I could never do enough to show my appreciation for how they quite literally saved my life.
So it will be a bittersweet end for both my home & my dance studio; but I am hoping that this new chapter will be a grand one indeed.

While it is incredibly hard for me to ask for help, I have opened a GoFundMe to help raise funds for first month's rent & deposit at a new residence.
Any amount that could be donated, or even a share of this post would be most appreciated.

13 years ago today classes began at my humble basement studio.
Since then we have grown, changed locations a few times, found a wonderful storefront home at Phoenix Rising Studio, performed at a large variety of events and venues; and continued in our journey of knowledge and refinement of this ancient art of dance.

It is with extreme sadness that we must announce that Jewel in the Lotus will not be able to perform day 2 of the Midwest Pirate Fest due to medical concerns.
