I always tell to my students that in my life and in my professional career I have known and worked with so many people who carried or worked with fi****ms, but only some of them carried a WEAPON.
It is strange how many fi****ms owners do not realize that they are in the same position as those who want to ban fi****ms.
Let me explain better, normally those who want to ban fi****ms want it because they think they are dangerous for society.
This, however, is profoundly wrong, because in this way we would like to attribute to a firearm, an intent, a nature or a soul as if it were an autonomous entity, but since it is a simple mechanical tool, by logic we all know that it cannot be so and fi****ms simply remain an inanimate mechanical tools.

Being mechanical tools they can be used correctly or improperly, but what will make the difference will not be the tool but only and always its user.
Otherwise would be like saying that the cars are dangerous because every weekend a large number of people die in road accidents because they drive under alcool, drugs or because the high speed .
Now, on the other side in an apparently opposite position, we have many legal fi****ms owners, which they think it is enough to buy a firearm and carry it on, to be safer and thus be able to defend themselves.

Following the same reasoning that we applied with those who consider fi****ms to be "dangerous", also in this case someone wants to attribute to the firearm something that in reality it does not have.
In this case however, they want to give it a sort of "magic power" for which a firearm owner, even if not trained or prepared and perhaps with only a few hours of training done to obtain the "CCW license" , should magically be able to compete for his life through the use of a tool that he doesn't know how to use.
This because he has used that tool few hours and in a kind of environment ( shooting range ) that is completely different than the real context which is the environment where he will be called to "compete" ( for his life ) .
To get a better idea, it would be like sending a newly licensed driver to a Nascar race, expecting him to win it.

At this point it's important also to remind which are the only 2 conditions in which a firearm is really dangerous for "society":

1) When it is in the hands of a criminal and it is used properly
2) When it is in the hands of a legal owner and it is used improperly

The right for an honest citizen to carry a firearm for personal defense is for me absolutely an essential right that should be at the base of every democratic and civil country, as well as being a fundamental pillar of every evolved society, a great warranty to protect the rights and the freedom of a people.
Alongside this right, however, there are duties and responsibilities that are essential to the right itself and it is on this that we Instructors must work.
It is about the education on the correct kind of mindset that anyone who owns a firearm should have where we must all work more but really much more.
Until we understand that the best card we can provide in the hands of those who want to ban fi****ms are examples of fi****ms legal owners which they use their fi****ms improperly, causing also damage to the society, we will continue to try to defend the right to carry a firearm from the wrong prospective, often, even unaware of screaming the same arguments as the "ban guns" supporters but with different words.
A firearm is just a mechanical tool , not more or less than this, it is up to us to decide how to use it.

ICYMI: Biden Would Ban and Criminalize Most Popular Selling Centerfire Rifle – the Modern Sporting Rifle

NEWTOWN, Conn. – NSSF®, the trade association for the firearm industry, is focusing on former Vice President Joe Biden’s radical antigun campaign promise to ban, register and confiscate the most popular selling centerfire rifles – the modern sporting rifle – sold in America today. Biden borrowed a page from the failed campaign of Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke to craft an agenda that would hobble Constitutionally-protected rights for law-abiding Americans.

“Joe Biden’s gun grab isn’t original, but is it is shockingly honest that they admit the end game. His campaign promise to confiscate guns rips the mask off the lie told by gun control for decades,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “Yes, they are coming for your guns. The Biden-Harris campaign literally spelled out how they would do this and would violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution, but instead destroy it.”

The Biden-Harris gun control agenda proposes to ban the sale and manufacture of modern sporting rifles, or what the campaign terms “assault rifles” or “weapons of war.” In fact, these fi****ms are just semiautomatic fi****ms that uses 100-year-old technology and have been sold commercially since the early 1960s. Semiautomatic fi****ms expend one round for each squeeze of the trigger, unlike the military’s automatic fi****ms that continue to fire automatically while the trigger is depressed. The Biden campaign is purposefully conflating the similar appearances of AR-15s and the military’s M-16 and M-4 rifles to confuse the American public.

Biden proposes that all 18 million-plus modern sporting rifles in circulation would be registered in the same onerous manner as automatic fi****ms and regulated under the 1934 Gun Control Act. That would require current owners to register these rifles with the Bureau of Alcohol, To***co, Fi****ms and Explosives (ATF), pay a $200 tax, submit fingerprints, photos, and complete duplicitous background checks for fi****ms they already passed a background check to purchase. They would also be subjected to random and unannounced ATF inspection of their firearm and would be registered in a federal watchlist of firearm owners. Further, permits regulated under the 1934 NFA are already backlogged by more than nine months.

The Biden campaign has a plan for those who would choose not to comply. Those individuals would be given two options: be forced to sell the property to the U.S. government using their own tax dollars to do so or face forcible confiscation by law enforcement authorities. Conservative estimates would require $9-18 billion of taxpayer funds to subsidize this gun confiscation scheme.

The Biden-Harris gun control plan would also ban the manufacture and sale of so-called “high capacity” magazines. His campaign website grossly compares hunting to the horrific murder of children, claiming the federal government protects ducks more than kids. This disgusting comparison is as wrong as it is appalling. Murder is illegal, plain and simple. The value of human life is undeniably greater than that of animals. That’s why the industry opposes these limits because in a moment of crisis when defending one’s own life, arbitrary magazine capacity limits put law-abiding Americans at a disadvantage to criminals who, by definition, disobey laws.

Modern sporting rifles are commonly and lawfully used for hunting, recreational and competitive target shooting and home defense. More than 5 million Americans purchased a firearm for the first time in 2020, based on a NSSF retailer survey. Fully 40 percent of these new gun owners are women. The largest increase of any demographic is among African-Americans, which skyrocketed 58 percent over 2019. To date, more than 13.8 million background checks have been completed for the sale of a firearm, surpassing 2019’s full-year total of nearly 13.2 million.

NSSF strongly opposes these unconstitutional proposals of the Biden-Harris campaign and encourages all Americans to vote on Election Day to protect their Second Amendment rights.

We are back at it. Jeremy took time off to get his son graduated, Julie concentrating on business and loving on new family members. Then the whole Covid thing threw a wrench in.... well everything.
Due to the current state of affairs in our society, we have lots of people asking for classes so I will start throwing some out there fairly regularly.
For September I'll toss together a quick Pistol basic this Saturday ( Sept 5) and Next Sunday (Sept 13th) (with a Blended Learning option) and if we can fill the seats a NE Concealed Handgun Permit Class on Sept. 26th.

Here is the thing. Situational Awareness is key. Do not make it easy for the scum of the world.

Short Story: Woman is at school baseball practice with kids. After the game she finds her car was broken into. She uses a friends phone to call the cops so they can do a report.

As they do the report she calls her husband to let him know. They find that her purse, phone, gps, and even the garage door opener has been taken.

Her husband (who is at work) asked if it was her that texted him to get the bank card number. The panic sets in.

He calls the bank and sure enough, they are wiped out.

The woman is very upset and can not drive so her husband comes to get her and take her and the kids home.

They arrive home and find the following...

The scum used the gps to find the house by pushing the home choice, they use the garage door opener to access the house, they find their teenage son badly beaten and tied up in the rampaged house in need of medical attention.
