I got my leg caught up during BJJ training and I managed to survive the rest of the round hopping on one leg even while my training partner was trying to sweep me. Afterwards she was like, “How did you do that???”

Taekwondo✨ Taekwondo footwork saves me every time because I’m so used to generating power and maintaining stability on a single leg. 😮‍💨

Footwork is about rhythm! I once heard a coach that stated, “the competitor who wins is the first to break their opponent’s rhythm.” And I think about that quite often whenever I’m sparring/rolling.

So some exercises that you can practice at the dojang/gym/at home! Turn on some music & have fun!

Now for some single leg action!😈

Reflecting on the commentary from my previous plyometrics reels - you can find so much movement overlap between martial arts and non-combat sports! Which is why I believe it is beneficial to be a hybrid athlete (or practice multiple sports). For example, football (aka. soccer) and martial arts both require steady state endurance, bursts, and cutting angles.

What other sports aside from martial arts have you practiced that you felt benefitted your training?

Underrated reason to train plyos (aside from enhancing your martial arts performance): single leg stability

I haven’t TWISTED my ankle in ages😮‍💨 (MY CURRENTLY ankle injury is due to tendinitis 🙄 NOT a twisted ankle LOL)

I MADE A MISTAKE!!!😭😭😭
