I don't teach taekwondo the way most people do. And that's completely intentional.

My background in psychology shaped everything about how I run this studio β€” how I talk to students, how I structure classes, what I celebrate and what I push on.

I built the kind of place I wish had existed for some of the people I worked with earlier in my career.

If you've been looking for something more than a martial arts class β€” this is it.

πŸ‘‡ Does the connection between physical training and mental/emotional strength resonate with you? Tell me why.

Most self-defense programs teach you what to do if someone grabs you.

We start earlier than that.

We start with the belief that you are worth defending. That your safety matters. That you don't have to shrink, apologize, or make yourself small to move through the world.

Once that's in place β€” the physical skills land differently. They mean something.

That's the difference between training the body and training the whole person.

πŸ‘‡ Has your relationship with your own safety or confidence ever shifted? I'd love to hear your story.

Our team arrived safely in North Carolina yesterday for USAT Nationals. We got settled in the hotel. Found the convention center. Mr. Shaun weighed in. Met up with old friends. Ate. Trained. Slept. Then Mr. Ale weighed in this morning. Shaun’s call time is 7pm with more training and food in between…. Plus some fun! Nationals are amazing for growth and learning, but don’t forget the memories and fun stories we create!! Woot for nationals!!!πŸ’₯ Go Team BST!

We are so blessed to live in a country with so many freedoms many around the world don't enjoy. Eventhough our leaders don't always make the best decisions and controversial things happen, I will always be grateful for freedoms I have.

Some of my favorite things that taekwondo has given me is the knowledge that I can protect myself if needed, the confidence to speak up, and the strength to persevere through hard times.

What is has taekwondo given you? πŸ‘‡

There's a version of taekwondo that's all about trophies and tournaments.

Although tournaments are an important part of what we do, our focus is not on winning or getting gold.

We're here for the kid who gets bullied and doesn't know how to stand up for themself. The woman who has never felt safe in her own body. The teenager who is so busy performing for everyone around them that they've lost track of who they actually are.

We teach the physical skills. But what we're really building is the unshakeable belief that you matter β€” and that you are worth protecting.

If that speaks to you, come try a class. First one's on us.

πŸ‘‡ What do you wish you'd had more of growing up β€” physical skills, mental strength, or someone who believed in you?

I see these patterns all the time in new students. And within a few months, they shift β€” sometimes dramatically.

It's not magic. It's structured repetition in an environment built for growth.

If you see your child in any of these slides, save this post. And know there's something you can do about it.

πŸ‘‡ Which one resonated most with you β€” as a parent or even thinking back to yourself as a kid?
