You’re not a pro athlete.
You don’t have a predictable season. You can barely figure out what you’re gonna have for lunch. Showing up to BJJ or the weightroom is a privilege but still a necessity.
Recent conversations with my awesome clients has me reflecting a lot lately on why programming matters. Too much rigidity and it’s doomed to fail. Hyper-periodized plans for the hobbyist grappler who’s lucky to train 2x per week is a recipe for them to feel defeated when they don’t achieve what’s written into the plan.
That’s why the plan should be focused on repeatability. After reviewing everything someone has in front of them, I ask myself the question, “What can they ACTUALLY stick to for months on end that allows them to make progress, but remain flexible when life gets in the way?”
DM “perform” if you want to troubleshoot this together so you can perform your best on and off the mats.
