Central Arkansas Fencing Club

Malcolm and Benjamin competed in the ArkLaMiss Summer Nationals qualifiers in Shreveport today. Benjamin finished 4th and Malcolm 5th. Thanks to Caddo Magnet High School fencing for hosting!

Our Spring tournament was this weekend. We had a good turnout and close matches! In the attached photo we have our top finishers (from left to right): Cameron (2nd), Daxton (1st), Cris (4th), and Malcolm (3rd). We're planning our next tournament for June, so keep an eye out!

This week (March 9) we are starting our Spring schedule:

Monday 6:00-6:50: Intermediate Continuing Fencing. For fencers who fence regularly and have a good grasp of the basics. We'll focus on drills to improve specific skills, conditioning, and strategy.

Monday 7:00-8:00: Adult Beginner Class

Tuesday 6:30-7:30: Kids/Teenager Beginner Class

Tuesday 7:30-8:30: Advanced Beginner Continuing Class: You've learned the basics, but you still need more work to master them. Will focus on refining footwork, attacks, parries, etc.

Thursday 6:30-8:30: Open Fencing.

The Beginner classes are full, but we will have a Summer class!

We are going to be starting a new set of Beginner classes in the second week of March. We're aiming to do both an adult class (17 and up) and a youth class (10-16). If you've signed up for our email mailing list on our website, keep an eye out for details coming soon! I'll ask you to confirm so that I can put your name on the list.

The next set of classes starts September 16! Beginner classes will be at 6:30 pm, with Continuing Fencing classes at 7:30 pm on Tuesday evenings for 8 weeks. If you want more information, email us at [email protected]

We have some exciting updates about the club! The biggest news is that we've gotten registered as an official non-profit corporation; we have a governing board, bank account, etc. This move helps us to create strong foundation for further development.

We are also hosting regular USA Fencing sanctioned tournaments. Our first was in June, and it was a big success. We're planning to have several in the next school year, starting in early December. Keep an eye out for more information.

The club has been bustling and thriving, with full classes and active open fencing. More images and information to come soon!

We had a fun tournament today. In the 14 and under division, Yaseen took the victory, with Malcolm in second and Yaqoob in third. In the open foil, Thomas was our winner in a dramatic sudden death final against Nathan, with Cristobal in third and Malcolm in fourth.
