For those newer to my page, I just moved from NYC out to LA and offer a wide variety of options to train with me:⁣⁣
⁣⁣
1) One-on-one in person training, I’ll be based out of in West Hollywood. It’s an AMAZING new space opening soon with top of the line equipment and recovery services. I also do private/in-home training if you have the space, depends on your location!⁣⁣
⁣⁣
2) One-on-one virtual training through FaceTime or Zoom. Same standards, same workouts, same accountability as in person. Thanks to COVID, we’ve realized it’s actually sometimes more convenient to train this way.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
3) Group training through my app called Body & Bell. I’m partnered with another amazing coach, and each week we program six workouts designed to improve strength, cardiovascular endurance and kettlebell skill development. We walk you through the entire workout with video demonstration and audio cues. It’s as close as you can get to an in-person session through your phone. You can try it FREE for a week and make sure it’s a good fit!⁣⁣

FED vs. FASTED⁣⁣

Body & Bell’s nutrition challenge this week is INTERMITTENT FASTING!⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Let us be clear—⁣⁣
Fasting does not mean “starve yourself”. Fasting by definition means “abstaining from food and drink for a certain amount of time”.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
The concept of fasting has been around for thousands of years and has been practiced in many cultures and religions around the world. It’s not some Hollywood fad that the stars use to shed emergency weight. It’s way cooler than you so do it for the right reasons. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
We are looking at an “intermittent” approach, ideally 14-18 hour windows without food which leaves 6-10 hour eating windows.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
What is our goal? To regulate your hormones, hunger cues and mindset around food. You may realize some bad habits you’ve created over the years, you may realize you feel more energized throughout the day.⁣⁣
⁣⁣

Here’s some of the benefits of fasting itself—⁣⁣
⁣⁣
1) Weight loss— this is the most common reason people usually consider fasting and I want to be clear as to HOW weight loss actually happens during a fast because it is NO A MAGIC TRICK—⁣⁣
Fasting helps people create a calorie deficit within a food restriction “zone”. Fat loss is strictly about calories in versus calories out (CICO) and having an “eating window” usually keeps people from unnecessary snacking and overeating. With that said, you can 100% overeat within your eating window, so if fat loss is a goal, you should still monitor your total daily intake while fasting.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
2) Promotes the secretion of human growth hormone— helps build muscle mass and is important for burning fat. It can also help improve your workouts too!⁣⁣
⁣⁣
3) Normalizes insulin sensitivity— please don’t get wrapped up in the “anti-sugar” movement. No one walks around with their head in a bag of raw cane sugar... we are eating things high in fat as well, like cookies, pastries and ice cream. Fats, salt and processed foods are just as addictive, don’t fool yourself. ⁣⁣

4) Fasting can help normalize our hunger hormones like ghrelin (tells us when we are hungry) and leptin (tells us when we are full).⁣⁣

Our friendship started based on our passion for health and fitness but it escalated when we started challenging each other to be better. It went beyond holding each other accountable to having the hard conversations needed for real growth. ⁣
⁣⁣
We ALL have goals.⁣

And we usually put so much pressure on ourselves to achieve them ALONE. Which is hard. Nearly impossible.⁣

We need a TEAM—a reliable support system to push us, love us and guide us.⁣
⁣⁣
So we created Body & Bell.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
None of us should embark on this crazy journey alone. ⁣
⁣⁣
We want you on our team. I promise it’s lot easier and FUN with a buddy!⁣⁣

The fact that gyms aren’t viewed as “essential” businesses is the reason chronic illness cases are rising every year in this county. ⁣

I’ve kept my mouth shut and now I just don’t care anymore. OPEN THE FU***NG GYMS.⁣.

Pharmacies, liquor stores and groceries are open... Go grab your preferred medication via pills, booze or junk food and go sit on your ass at home.⁣

Meanwhile, the people passionate enough to make health and fitness a CAREER have to hope that online equipment providers restock soon so we can get clients back on track to real wellness in the virtual world.⁣

I’m SO proud of all of you who are continuing your journey to fitness regardless of gyms being closed and equipment being in short supply.⁣

Cherishing your body for what it can do regardless of equipment or community available is powerful. That’s when you know you’ve made it a real habit, not just following popular trend.⁣

They can take us out of the gyms but can’t take the desire to change from the heart.⁣
