It’s Ivan! Many may know him from his entertaining and informative summer ballet intensives, but before he became a professional ballet dancer he was a founding member of Livermore School of Dance. When Ivan was a young student, he had to take a break from dancing because the little girls in his creative movement class kept tying him up with their scarves during free dance - maybe they were intimidated by his unbridled enthusiasm? Thankfully when LSOD opened up he decided to give dance another shot and the rest is history!

It’s Valerie! We're super excited excited to have Valerie joining as our office manager and administrator extraordinaire this year! You might have seen Valerie around the studio taking as many of the adult classes that she can (who says dance is just for the kids??). This little princess also grew up to have a princess of her own- Princess Anna that is!

It’s Miss Alaina! Although she is currently our jazz and combo teacher for many of our Wednesday classes, you may also recognize her from our production of “Into the Woods and Out of the Storybook” where she reprised her role as The Baker! When Miss Chloe and Miss Alaina became friends, they looked at their old dance photos and realized they were in the same creative movement dance class when they were little. What a small world!

It’s Miss Megan! Megan's grandma always encouraged her to do ballet, even before she started taking classes. Thanks to Megan’s grandma, the rest is history! Megan has many memories of performing in her grandma's living room during visits to show her her dances.

It’s Miss Chalayna! Chalayna started taking dance classes at 4, first learning ballet and tap then branching out into jazz, hip hop, lyrical and contemporary. She enjoyed creating routines and performing at home for her friends and family, going so far as to use her little brother as her first ever “student" with special in-house lessons!

It’s Miss Natalie! In Natalie’s first ever dance performance, she was so nervous onstage that she stared into the wings at her teacher (who happened to be Miss Brittany!) the entire time. Dancing at the studio is what helped her come out of her shell growing up, and she’s so excited to be teaching jazz company this year!

It’s Miss Jordan! You might recognize her now as our ballet and tap teacher! When she was a little dancer, her hair was so fine that it was hard to get into a bun, but her mom was determined to follow dress code and got her hair into a bun - although it was about the size of a quarter! You may notice her picture at the end posing with Miss Brittany from our very first Alice in Wonderland performance!

It’s Miss LaTonya! Although at LSOD she is our hip-hop queen, it may surprise you that when LaTonya was little she only wanted to do ballet! It wasn't until later on that she realized that jazz/hip-hop was definitely her style. She went on to become a graduate of Fosse School for jazz and hip-hop, but still appreciates all dance styles. Miss LaTonya knows that it's not everyday that you get to grow up and do exactly what you dreamed of doing as a kid, and she's very grateful for her family for supporting her endeavors!

It's Miss Chloe! Chloe spent much of her childhood choreographing dances and putting on shows in her living room, recruiting her friends and even her great-grandma to be her dancers! She was also obsessed with the 1993 NYCB recording of The Nutcracker and watched it on repeat year round. You may notice in one of her photos she is with Miss Alaina in one of their earliest dance classes together!
