It is with heavy hearts and yet immense gratitude to our longtime Mountain West Aikido - Livingston member Warren “Dite” Little to announce his passing. Warren lived a full and interesting life. As a devoted student of Mitsugi Saotome he was a champion for Aikido Schools of Usehiba and instrumental in guiding aikido throughout Montana. His decades long service to the citizens of the United States as a Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, State of Montana and the aikido community at large was immeasurable. R.I.P. October 16, 1929 - September 19, 2026.

A sunray filled day of training yesterday in Livingston MT at Mountain West Aikido. January's weather decided our training space would be filled with light, joy and laughter to celebrate gakami biraki. Plus an in-depth look at how In/Yo (yin/yang) provides a guide to aiki movement's technique. Thankful for our participant's intense focus and honest efforts. Mountain West Aikido - Livingston thanks Dr. James Gardner 5th dan for conducting a dive into our training "shu-ha-ri" , the thunderous sound of ant's feet and use of "Aiki dust". Friday evenings session was a wonderful start to MWA’s Spring Workshop with Craig Thomas Naylor Sensei. Look at those smiles !!! Look at the variation of students from some of our “youth group members” to the bit more “seasoned”. That’s the state of Montana aikido. Our 10th anniversary of the MWA Livingston group happened yesterday. Thank you to our wonderful students who came to Kagami biraki - braved difficult road conditions - subzero temperatures and sharing their time to celebrate - oh and let's not forget the mango mochi! Galaxy Sheldon and Jack McCallister helped everyone fold origami, Sherri Renck and Val O'Connell brought delicious goodies for us to taste 😁 - I'm looking forward to another great year of training and growing with you all.

Thanks to Lia Suzuki sensei (Aikido Kenkyukai) for traveling to the Big Sky of Livingston Montana this weekend. Sensei presented a fabulous training for our Mountain West Aikido group. We had folks travel from Missoula, Kalispell (Flathead Valley), Bozeman and of course our Billings MT dojo. We are all a little tired and sore this Monday but looking forward to the next opportunity to train with Suzuki sensei. Participants not only looking good but happy at the social (post training) events too!😃
