Here is a message of thanks from Hailey Maletz.

Wanted to thank all of the WCD community that donated to the fundraiser for Hailey. She was raised in our school as the pictures below tell her story.
Update was posted on the gofundme page.
Her issues now is dealing with a Jeff's landlord and trying to get her dad's possessions to a safe place. She will probably put them in storage until she finds her own place. Some people think she is young than she really is, (she's in her early 20's), and have a hard time showing proper respect or feel they can bowl over her. Jeff raised a strong girl and so the countless times she has to stand up for herself seems exhausting.
The pressures of young adulthood are a journey that can be hard to navigate, as we have all found out, but harder when the person you relied on the most, for physical and mental support, has passed and is now out of reach.
She is on search for her a place to live and out of the temporary situation she finds herself now.
So thank you again for your help. Your donations will help greatly. I know Jeff if he could, would plant a big kiss on each one of your faces in gratitude.
Her gofundme page is linked in the comments if you would like to read the update and/or contribute. Thank you.

Go Fund Me for Hailey Maletz.
It is with deep sadness that we share the unexpected passing of our dear friend, father, and community member, Jeff Maletz, on November 19, 2025.
Jeff touched so many lives through his kindness, his work, his dedication to martial arts, and his ability to make everyone around him feel valued and supported. His greatest pride and joy was his daughter, Hailey, with whom he shared an incredible bond.
Many people have asked how they can help during this heartbreaking time. A GoFundMe has been created to support Hailey as she navigates the coming year and works to establish stability after the loss of her father. Contributions will go toward essential living expenses, educational needs, transportation, and helping her strengthen her financial footing during this difficult transition.
If Jeff made an impact on your life, or if you feel moved to support, a donation of any amount is deeply appreciated.

Thank you for the love, generosity, and compassion you’ve shown to Jeff’s family and community.

With shock and sadness, Wing Chun Do and the Ambrose Academy family have lost a valuable friend and supporter of WCD. Sifu Jeff Maletz passed away a few days ago.
Jeff came to our school when he was 17 years old. Alone and living in an empty house, he had to find his own way in the world. When he ran out of tuition money, we decided to adopt him in a way. Since that fateful day, Jeff has been with me and Ambrose Academy for over 30 years.
He helped us anyway he could. He joined the instructors program, became my first blackbelt, Sijo was there to congratulate him on one of his visits.
He brought that beautiful bundle of joy, Hailey into our lives. He became a single dad doing the best he could with the resources he had.
He used to tie Hailey's baby carrier to the climbing rope in the school when he taught or trained. She grew up in our school. Every mom sitting in our parent gallery would watch and fawn over her. Our WCD community looked after her. Plenty of excellent babysitters for him to choose from. Our son, David, grew to think of Hailey as his little cousin. Our thoughts, prayers and love are with her today.
He was always a positive force in our school, welcoming, fun, and as a trainer filled classes with fun and humor. He became a WCD brother to so many students and their friendships endured.
When he became a Sifu, we had a ceremony and threw a pot-luck party. His mom, mentioned how happy and surprised she was to see her son treated with such admiration and respect by so many people, seeing him with fresh eyes. The pride she felt was well deserved.
As the years passed, we moved to a new location. Our school kept growing. A synergetic and wonderful community of parents, students, mentors, and teachers was created. It was a great atmosphere to be in, a place where our families and students found a home away from home. We held holiday get togethers, pot-lucks, celebrations and when Sijo DeMile came, we celebrate even more. We truly became a family.
When the pandemic hit, it hit our school hard. After they allowed "contact sports" to reopen in the state, we had to start from scratch again. We were training in our parking lot over that spring and summer. In the fall, Jeff decided this was the perfect time for him to move on and create his own space and school. His leaving hit us hard too, but we knew that this day had to come eventually. After several years of teaching, he finally had his own brick and mortar school poised to make it a success.
I wish I could convey the long journey we have come together in pictures, but so many are before the digital age. A photograph captures a moment, but a memory holds the whole story. We hope these pictures help you remember a life much larger than these frames can hold.
RIP Jeff.

David works at Stumblebum Brewery, so a few of his WCD brothers came up to try some great craft beers. Ken and Andrea came up and we all had an intense conversation about growing food and gardening. Jim had great stories to tell as always. Morris and Reno are getting into test tasting the great breweries Michigan has to offer. David said later that it felt so good to have this kind energy at the bar.
Even when we left, other patrons asked what was that all about. We were enjoying each other's company that they all wanted to join in and some did. A pretty good evening.
Sorry to say, forgot to take pictures before some of us left. But here is one of Sitai Rocco with Reno and Morris.
Stumblebum Brewery beers are top-notched. Beers rotate. A flight of beers (4) is only ten bucks. Sandwiches, fry flights, and small cheese boards. They celebrated their One Year Anniversary yesterday. Located at 1965 W Maple Rd, Troy MI 48084. And Dave works Fridays and Sundays.

The Ambrose Academy clean-up crew. Yes, they can clean someone's clock, no doubt, but this crew is helping Sitai Rocco clean his lot. Parking lot.
Thanks for those that showed up with rakes, brooms, and power tools to help with the clean up.
These are now Sitai's bestest students IMO. Just kidding, not really, but kidding.
