Coming up in 2025, our next Girls Street Smarts - Girls Self-Defense course. Eight Saturdays starting January 11th. Looking forward to seeing returning girls to the class. It was a blast to talk with them about their experiences and about mental self-defense and well-being. This time around, we're dedicating more time to physical aspects of self-defense. Hope to see you there.

Loved this graphic. Shared from a friend’s timeline.
Modeling behavior. Being a firestarter and an example setter. It's one of the first things you do as a leader. Great graphic that shows that you are ALWAYS modeling behavior, one way or another.

I really loved this and had to share.
Children need more than just words, they want you. They want to know if their own parent thinks they are worthy enough to play with.
And when they ask, if you could show just the right amount enthusiasm in your voice and most importantly in your eyes and sit down next to them and play.
Self-esteem is built on the knowledge that a person feels worthy as a human being. That someone thinks you're worthy of their time. That a parent likes them enough to WANT to play with them. That someone wants to hear what they have to say, even if it's talking about their favorite cartoon. The Secure Child knows that their parents not only loves them, but actually likes them as an individual.🥰
❤️go play with them. The times flying by ❤️

I'm this parent. It has to do with commitment. After watching a class or taking a tour, my child and I sit down to discuss if this is something he really wants to try. If the answer is yes, then we commit. I pre-frame that there is no backing out. If its a sport, then the team is relying on his commitment. If its an art class, then its about personal growth and not about comparing his work with anyone else's. We discuss that it takes grit to commit. It takes grit to get up when you don't want to, or if you feel lazy, or its easier to let things go. And yes, I spent my hard earned money, so we are not going to waste that either.

In the future, parents will become a major contributor to their children's education. With math and reading scores showing stagnant growth for two decades, here is an opportunity to lead the change needed in education.
