⚽️ The U-17 boys team traveled down to Springville last night, and headed home with a 2-0 shutout win! ⚡️🔵🟡
Winger Eric Benedict had both goals for Lockport, the first coming in the 41st minute, taking a pass from Evin Richley just outside the box and scoring just underneath the crossbar. Benedict would add a second goal in the 76th minute scoring a direct free kick goal from the left that bent over the Springville wall for a near post goal. The defense of Brian Mitchell, Brayden Lewis, Eli Visco and Owen Berner played tough all game, and goalkeeper James Martino made 7 saves, including a diving 1-handed save in the middle of the first half to preserve the clean sheet.

With the 2026 FIFA World Cup beginning next Thursday, June 11th, this is an exciting time to be involved in soccer, the world's sport!
Anticipation has been building over the past couple of years, and the energy even within the Buffalo area has been fantastic. From the youth level to all of our regional academy, adult and semi-professional teams, the growth of the game locally has been noticed. Now it's time to watch!!
Whether it's the USA games, or any of the other matches, this is soccer at the highest level. If you play the sport, it's a great way to focus on different formations and each teams' strategies and what works and what doesn't. It's a chance to pay close attention and study the players who play your positions and see what they do that makes them great. Is it individual ball skill, effort and determination, physical strength, shooting accuracy, passing plays, goalkeeper reactions, willingness to block shots, overall leadership, etc.? Become engaged in being your own scout.
You'll also hear plenty about the names of the past who made this game great. What did they do to become idolized or become role models or reach the highest success? What can you learn from them?
Passion for the game can start at a young age and end up lasting a lifetime, so what better event to follow for the next month to learn, study and challenge yourself within the sport!

⚽️ The 2011 boys took on AFC Rochester in Champions Conference action with only 10 players Thursday night. After going down early, Lockport settled in and fought back first with Griffin Visco looping in a volley to tie the match in the first half. Then the boys dug deep and Landon Crist drove the ball into the box where he found Brayden Powell at the back post for the winning header on the last attack of the game! ⚡️🔵🟡
