Shaking off the rust for the Cal Dreamin this weekend. Good first day with a 7-1 record. Great to be back on the water 🙏🏼

Light and shifty breeze made for some tricky racing conditions and a lot of waiting on the first stop of the CA Dreamin series. We were happy to come away with a 100% record in the single round robin sailed. Big ups to Sterling Henken for filling in the middle and the Henken family for housing us. We’ve also moved up the rankings to 37th in the world. Looking forward to jumping back into the 37s in April!

Great news for the team- We are on our way to the 2020 Ficker Cup!
The team had a great weekend down at Long Beach Yacht Club this past weekend racing against local and national teams in the Catalina 37s. The boats were bigger than what we usually sail so we recruited the help of Willie McB, Haydon Stapleton, and Nick Weis to help us get around the course. They were a huge addition to the team in getting sails up and down, keeping the boat going fast, and assisting us with tactics in the light and shifty conditions. At the start of the event, it was clear that our team was not comfortable in the larger boats in close situations; however we improved each match and grew to better understand match racing in the heavier boats. At the end of the weekend, our team ended up on 10-4 to take second in the event behind the local LBYC team and take first place in the California Dreaming Series.

The boys are down at San Diego Yacht Club competing in the 2nd California Dreaming Series event. We went 7-1 yesterday over 2 Round Robbins and currently sit in first. We have 1 more round robin left today to determine the final standings.
The California Dreaming Series events are important to us because they make up a qualifying series for the grade 2 Ficker Cup in a few months.
Stay tuned for an update later today on how it goes!
The guys had good start to the Detroit Cup going 3-2 today. We learned a few lessons about match racing in current and how to better clear red flag penalties so we’re looking forward to improving in the next few days. We’re only 7 flights in with two Round Robbins planned so there is still plenty to play for.
