Something you should know about us: we LOVE our community.

When I randomly saw a nafudakake (名札掛) in a picture a few months ago I thought: this would be an incredible way to add some much-needed wall decoration to the studio AND memorialize the dedication of our students at the same time.

After realizing that this product isn't really produced in this country--and that I wouldn't be able to afford it where it WAS sold--I did the jiu-jitsu thing and pivoted to making it happen however it could be done, with the constraints given.

Several weeks and an uncountable number of hard-earned lessons later, we've got racks on racks. I hope whenever our students look up and see themselves here that they can be proud--of their own perseverance and the mat that they've made a home. 👊🏽🙇🏻‍♂️😎🥋

Friends! We're just about two weeks out from our next FREE women's self-defense seminar! It happens on 3/14 (pi-day!) at 2pm. Join us as we journey through a sampling of our curriculum, surveying the strategies that can keep you safe from both the gratuitous and instrumental violence endemic to SA scenarios.

It's hard to believe, our little studio is fast-approaching our one-year anniversary on February 15th! From signing the lease to construction to community-building and class-expansion, it boggles the mind to think of how quickly the time passed and how much dedicated work our incredible students and staff have managed to put in.

In honor of this milestone, we’re extending our founder’s special through February 15th. Sign up during this window to lock-in membership at $160/month for unlimited training (normally $220). A bit late on this post, but GGJJS is super proud of our instructor Eddie for representing us so faithfully in the jiu-jitsu tournament at the LA Fit Expo last weekend! Not only did he go 4-0 in this submission only tourney, but he did so with all the poise, humility, presence, and respect that are so fundamental to our practice at our school. Cheers to this amazing grappler, instructor, and human who makes Grounded Grit Jiu-Jitsu Studio what it is! 👊🏽🥋🙇🏻‍♂️😎

Nearly a week late at this point, but congrats to Lionel on being the very first stripe promotion at our school! We are still a fledgling school, as our first official day of class was February 17th. Despite this, he's shown remarkable consistency and always shows up hungry and curious. Very proud to have a school full of students like him. One milestone of many to come!
