This morning Iβm toeing the line at HYROX NYC β Menβs Solo Open division, wave starting at 11:30 AM! Letβs go! πͺπ₯
Representing Xavier High School Class of β86 on our 40th reunion weekend β proud to carry the banner for the Sons of Xavier!
HYROX Race Breakdown (Menβs Solo Open):
β’ 8 Γ 1km Runs (total 8km) alternating with 8 functional stations:
1. 1km Run β 1,000m SkiErg
2. 1km Run β Sled Push (152kg incl. sled, 50m total β usually 4Γ12.5m)
3. 1km Run β Sled Pull (103kg incl. sled, 50m total)
4. 1km Run β 80m Burpee Broad Jumps
5. 1km Run β 1,000m Row
6. 1km Run β Farmers Carry (2Γ24kg kettlebells, 200m)
7. 1km Run β Sandbag Lunges (20kg, 100m)
8. 1km Run β 100 Wall Balls (6kg to 10ft target)

Good luck to all of the athletes from CrossFit Sunnyside competing in HYROX this weekend and next! π₯πͺ
Months of hard work, endurance training, strength work, and grit all lead to race day. Weβre proud of every athlete stepping onto the course and representing our community.
For those unfamiliar with HYROX, every individual competitor completes the exact same race format:

π¨ First Train Hard Menβs Club meetup in Sunnyside Queens is in the books!
It started with a few guys ready to show up. No excuses. No agenda. Just men training hard, shoulder to shoulder.
We pushed through the work, sweat it out, and left stronger.
This is just the beginning.

Partner Kalsu β Breathe & Burn π₯
150 Thrusters
EMOM: 5 Burpees (every minute on the minute)
This one hurts, but youβve got a partner for a reason!
Strategy & Briefing: Move at a steady pace on the Burpees every minute and keep breathing continuous. Alternate who works on the Thrusters each minute β that way someone is always fresh and you can get into a rhythm.
This will keep you on track and (hopefully) out of Burpee jail. Push it a bit towards the end to save a set or two of Burpees, and finish strong together! πͺ
