HYROX NYC

🚨 Race Day Announcement! 🚨
This morning I’m toeing the line at HYROX NYC β€” Men’s Solo Open division, wave starting at 11:30 AM! Let’s go! πŸ’ͺπŸ”₯
Representing Xavier High School Class of β€˜86 on our 40th reunion weekend β€” proud to carry the banner for the Sons of Xavier!

HYROX Race Breakdown (Men’s Solo Open):
β€’ 8 Γ— 1km Runs (total 8km) alternating with 8 functional stations:
1. 1km Run β†’ 1,000m SkiErg
2. 1km Run β†’ Sled Push (152kg incl. sled, 50m total – usually 4Γ—12.5m)
3. 1km Run β†’ Sled Pull (103kg incl. sled, 50m total)
4. 1km Run β†’ 80m Burpee Broad Jumps
5. 1km Run β†’ 1,000m Row
6. 1km Run β†’ Farmers Carry (2Γ—24kg kettlebells, 200m)
7. 1km Run β†’ Sandbag Lunges (20kg, 100m)
8. 1km Run β†’ 100 Wall Balls (6kg to 10ft target)

Months of hard work, endurance training, strength work, and grit all lead to race day. We’re proud of every athlete stepping onto the course and representing our community.
For those unfamiliar with HYROX, every individual competitor completes the exact same race format:

πŸ‹οΈ Workout Station
πŸ” Repeat 8 times
The full race structure for an individual racer is:
1️⃣ 1 km Run β†’ 1,000m Ski Erg
2️⃣ 1 km Run β†’ 50m Sled Push
3️⃣ 1 km Run β†’ 50m Sled Pull
4️⃣ 1 km Run β†’ 80m Burpee Broad Jumps
5️⃣ 1 km Run β†’ 1,000m Row
6️⃣ 1 km Run β†’ 200m Farmer’s Carry
7️⃣ 1 km Run β†’ 100m Sandbag Lunges
8️⃣ 1 km Run β†’ 100 Wall Balls
That’s a total of:

βœ… 8 functional fitness stations
βœ… A race that tests endurance, strength, pacing, mental toughness, and recovery under fatigue.

Fitness Built for Life

Our bodies were not made to sit in a chair for 8 hours a day.

Partner Kalsu – Breathe & Burn πŸ”₯

150 Thrusters
EMOM: 5 Burpees (every minute on the minute)
This one hurts, but you’ve got a partner for a reason!

Strategy & Briefing: Move at a steady pace on the Burpees every minute and keep breathing continuous. Alternate who works on the Thrusters each minute β€” that way someone is always fresh and you can get into a rhythm.

This will keep you on track and (hopefully) out of Burpee jail. Push it a bit towards the end to save a set or two of Burpees, and finish strong together! πŸ’ͺ
