A lot of people reached out to me after my post last week about my inner critic, Francis. šŸ˜…ā€Ø
So I figured I’d share another strategy you can use to tame yours too: the Positive Psychology 5 ā€œRā€ process.

First off, it’s important to know this…
Your inner critic is made up of old lies + distorted beliefs that try to scare you and make you feel smaller than you are.
It’s just thoughts, not reality.

And if you get nothing else from this post, remember this:
You are not your thoughts. You can notice them, challenge them, and choose what you believe.

Here’s how to tame it using the 5 R’s:
1) Recognize
Notice when it’s your inner critic talking (and what triggered it).

2) Refute
Question the thought. Is it true? Is it really true?

3) Remove
Use your imagination. Tell it to leave. It doesn’t get to stay with you in the moment.

4) Regain
Remember who you are beneath the doubt. Connect with your inner motivator.

5) Return
Come back to the present moment. Feel your feet. Breathe. Look around.

Your inner critic WILL show up… but it doesn’t get to
drive. šŸš—šŸ’Ø

Save this for the next time your mind spirals. šŸ¤

Your inner critic is just a voice in your head, but it can feel real, and it can feel like the truth.

When you visualize it, you create space between you and the thought, and that’s when you can respond instead of react.

Here’s how I identified Francis…
1. Notice when your inner critic shows up
Usually right before you take a risk, get visible, or try something new.
2. Name Them
This helps you separate the critic from your identity.
3. Picture your inner critic clearly
How old are they? What are wearing? What’s the expression on their face? Where do they live? Get specific.
4. Write down their favorite linesā€Øā€œYou’re not ready.ā€ ā€œWho do you think you are?ā€ ā€œYou’re going to mess it up.ā€
5. Ask what they trying to protect you from
Rejection? Failure? Being judged?
6. Thank them… and find a way to get them to leaveā€Øā€œFrancis, go smoke outside..ā€

If your inner critic is LOUD give this a try! It takes some time, but I’ll bet once you start to identify them, name them, and tell them, ā€œthank you but no thank youā€ they become less of a nuisance.

As I wrap up this year, I've decided I'm making two lists:

My f**k it list (things I'm not taking into the new year) and my bucket list (things I'll be actively cultivating.

My F**k It List:
people pleasing, fear, scarcity mindset, overthinking, underestimating myself, and self-doubt.

My Bucket list:
more authenticity, self-compassion, love, connections, play, laughter, manifesting, and joy.

I am not big on the word resolutions, but I do like the idea of intentions. Creating a better life by knowing what doesn't work and what does. Tuning into what stops me and what moves me.

There’s something so freeing about naming it all. Letting go of the heavy, making space for the light.

So here’s my nudge for you: make your own lists. Leave behind what doesn’t serve you, and open your heart to what does.

Words that spoke to me in August…

09/03/2025

✨ Today marks 8 months alcohol-free.

Eight months feeling more present, more grounded, and more alive than I ever thought possible.

So grateful I woke up one day and decided, I am done.

🌟 40- Day Yoga Sadhana 🌟
It’s been said that 40 days is a sacred timeframe for transformation. This consistent commitment to practice is believed to:

✨ Form New Habits: Establish positive patterns on a conscious and subconscious level, integrating the practice into your daily life.

✨ Break Negative Patterns: Shine light on and release habits or thought patterns that no longer serve you.

✨ Deepen Transformation: Create space for profound self-exploration and personal growth.

✨ Intensify Focus: Cultivate discipline, heightened awareness, and a deeper connection to the present moment.

Lately, I’ve noticed a sense of resistance in my own asana practice. I’ve found excuses creeping in, and moments of half-hearted effort when I do show up. As I reflect on the year ahead, one of my intentions for 2025 is to return to my mat with regularity, devotion, and presence.

In the spirit of new beginnings, I’ve decided to embark on my own 40-day sadhana. My practice will include asanas (movement), pranayama (breathwork), meditation, and journaling…simple yet powerful tools to realign and recharge.

I’m sharing this with you both as inspiration for your own 40-day journey, whether through yoga or another area of your life, and as a way to hold myself accountable.

If you feel called to join me in a 40-day practice of your own, I’d love to hear about it! Comment below or message me privately, and let’s support one another on this path.

Here’s to our next chapter!
