A word from Head Coach Jeremiah Hunter:
The landscape of college sports as a whole is currently undergoing a seismic shift. The recent U.S. Supreme Court decision "House v. NCAA" is the next step towards a new reality that began with the legalization of NIL ("name image & likeness") deals for college athletes. The restructuring of conferences, and many schools evaluating their program offerings will especially impact non-revenue sports. That is essentially everything other than football and men's basketball.
College wrestling is facing a very uncertain future. There are some who believe that the NCAA as an organization may actually break up into sport-specific governing bodies. The LeTourneau University Wrestling Club is proud to be a part of the NCWA (National Collegiate Wrestling Association) and the NCWA Southwest Conference which stands ready to be the premier college wrestling organization in the country. Since 1997, the NCWA has been the home of collegiate club wrestling in the U.S., Canada, and more recently Puerto Rico. Whatever happens going forward, student-athletes who wish to wrestle at the college level can be confident that they can find a home with an NCWA member school.
LeTourneau's athletic administration has no plans to add wrestling to the school's NCAA program. And so I am "all in" on NCWA participation. It will be the path for the foreseeable future of Yellowjacket wrestling. And as college wrestling as a whole "grapples" with the changes coming, I see many positives of being under the NCWA. For one, there are no recruiting restrictions. Second, as a coach and program leader, I can be more creative in how I build the program (more on this to come). And for those who choose to wrestle at LeTourneau, your path to compete for a national championship is way shorter, although still a challenging and worthwhile achievement.
Please see the first comment for an article by CBS Sports that gives a rundown of the House v. NCAA decision and it's likely ramification.
If you or someone you know is interested in attending LeTourneau and wrestling with our club, please get in touch with me, either through this page or my personal page.

A banner day today! The Yellow Jackets have our first tournament winner! Mason Nordyke is the 165lb champion of the 2024 UHD "Bayou Scramble" NCWA tournament! In just our second ever tournament, Mason and Joe showed tremendous improvement in their wrestling, and Mason was able to go 3-0 for the day to win his weight class. We are so proud of Mason! We will celebrate this accomplishment, and then look forward to the NCWA Southwest Conference Wrestling championship in two weeks, that will be held at Texas A&M.

History made! Joe and Mason stepped on the mat Saturday representing LeTourneau for our first NCWA tournament! Thank you to UT-Austin Longhorn Wrestling for putting on this event. We met up with 9 other teams, all from the NCWA Southwest Conference. We learned a lot about what we need to work on, and look forward to the next tournament on February 17th at the University of Houston-Downtown .
We are thankful to the LeTourneau Student Senate for the funding they have provided to get a few expenses covered, including our travel and entry fees this weekend. However our needs will continue to grow, and we are seeking alumni support as we relaunch LeTourneau Wrestling! Please see the comments for instructions on how to give to the Club.
