USA Gold Wrestling

In April 2026, our coach Clint Madden, received the NFHS Coaches Association 2024-2025 California Coach of the Year Award. This is a great honor for Coach Madden, Del Oro Wrestling, USA Gold Wrestling Club, and our community.
Commissioner Garrsion and the SJS Section staff, on behalf of the NHFS & CIF, recognized Coach Madden for this distinguished award at the Board of Managers Meeting in April.

Coach Madden began coaching at Del Oro in 1993 with Coach Bettencourt, became co-head coach in 1998 with Coach Sanchez, and took over as solo head coach in 2017.
In this time the program has produced 6 CIF State Finalists & 2 CIF State Champions.
He has helped 65 wrestlers qualify for the CIF State tournament, and placed 23 wrestlers on the podium in the Top8 at State, for a total of 37 CIF State medals in a sport with only one division.
With Coach Madden, Del Oro has produced State qualifiers every season, and State placers for 24 of 28 seasons.
In this time, Del Oro has earned 139 Sac Joaquin Section medals and 29 SJS Masters Champions, and finished Top10 out of over 200 teams 25 of 28 seasons.
They have won the Sierra Foothill League title 24 times, with 79 wrestlers winning an individual SFL Title for a total of 116 SFL Champions.
At USA Gold Wrestling Club the statistics are equally impressive with CAUSA & SCWAY State Champions, National Champions and top age group team finishes at major tournaments every year.

What outshines the podiums is the lifetime bonds between athletes, parents, and the community that Coach Madden has helped build at Del Oro and USA Gold. The family culture is reaffirmed every year in the Black & Gold.
Coach Madden welcomes new kids every season with a fun and hardworking spirit. A decade later, he directs those same kids toward university, and often a decade after that, he welcomes them back as fathers, mothers, and coaches. He drives kids across western states in the summer, flies with them across the country in the winter, rolls up mats after tournaments, makes home visits for struggling wrestlers, attends weddings and graduations, and even travels abroad with wrestlers.

Three amazing Cal Poly wrestlers hosted our NCAA Camp 2026. We welcomed back USA Gold alumni Jagger French, along with Levi Bussey, and Caesar Garza.

Instructor broke down their favorite handfighting combinations, setups, and leg attacks.

The room was filled end to end with wrestlers for the high school and youth sessions.
Familiar faces and new faces drilled and sparred together.

Cal Poly instructors finished every youth session with a new game. It was great!

We have some exciting news: USA Gold is hosting a 3-day wrestling camp featuring three Cal Poly NCAA wrestlers! We are welcoming back USA Gold alumni Jagger French, along with Levi Bussey, and Caesar Garza.

They will be working with athletes on fundamentals and their personal go-to techniques.

There is a registration cap, so make sure to take advantage of this opportunity and secure your wrestler's spot before it fills up!

Thank you to all our families who came to the 2026 USA Gold Wrestling Club banquet. That was the most homemade food ever, including Dan's 70lbs of meat. Thank you to the Millers for hosting 150 guests!
We covered USA Gold's accomplishments, honored our graduating eighth graders, thanked our head coach Clint and acknowledged our many coaches, parents and wrestlers.
Watching the wrestlers play together, the parents smiling, and the teamwork to setup/clean-down reminds us all of what a wonderful community and culture we have at USA Gold.

Congratulations, Kam Rush. USA Gold Alumni, Del Oro Eagle, and Menlo College Commit.
Menlo College is the 2025 NCWA National Team Champions and now NCAA DII team.

Kam will continue to bring his fast-paced skills to the mat and deliver exciting dual and tournament titles to the Oaks, as he did for his hometown.

The USA Gold crew traveled to SCWAY State to battle again with best teams in California.

Over two days, our 18 wrestlers hustled and scrapped their way through brackets. By the end, 13 wrestlers climbed onto the podium and all stepped up with courage and effort.

Congratulations to all of our wrestlers, and thank you to our families and coaches for supporting our young warriors and community.

USA Gold traveled to the CAUSA State Championships in Fresno to battle against the best in the West.

Every Gold wrestler fought for points and showed strong character and composure. Multiple wrestlers across every age group earned podium spots and two Gold wrestlers, Austin & Whitnee, climbed to the top as the 2026 California State Champions!

We're so proud of all of our wrestlers. We never quit, we always get back up, and we grow stronger and smarter every match.
