Another week of progress for Buckeye Trail Cross Country!
The Warriors competed at the Jeremy Anderson Invitational at Fort Frye this morning. We were a little short-handed on the high school girls side with Lily Bonnell and Brayleigh Hickman out this week, but the kids who raced gave us plenty to be excited about.
Middle School Boys
Emmett Taylor — 3rd overall — 12:04.9
Middle School Girls
Kaylie Shull — 32nd — 20:42
High School Boys
Carter Johnson — 38th — 19:54.2
John Long — 41st — 20:10.3
Trent Jeane — 55th — 21:27.4
High School Girls
Kloie Eagon — 20th — 23:14.4
Kaedence Long — 65th — 30:35.0
Once again, though, the part we really like is looking at the progress from week to week.
Compared with Newcomerstown just seven days ago:
John — 52 seconds faster
Kloie — 44 seconds faster
Trent — 27 seconds faster
Emmett — 18 seconds faster
Kaedence — 16 seconds faster
That means five of our seven runners improved from last week.
And because this is a course we raced last season, we can make another true year-to-year comparison.
Last year, Emmett Taylor ran 12:11.8 here and finished 11th.
Today?
12:04.9 and 3rd overall.
Almost seven seconds faster and an eight-place jump in one year.
And the record book keeps changing too.
John Long’s huge 20:10 PR moves him to #13 ALL-TIME at Buckeye Trail and #6 among sophomore boys.
Trent Jeane moves up to #9 on our junior boys list with his 21:27 and is now knocking on the door of the overall Top 20.
Kloie Eagon moves up to #4 on our senior girls list with her 23:14.
Emmett Taylor improved his own #2 mark on Buckeye Trail’s all-time Fort Frye middle school course list, running 12:04.9 after running 12:11.8 here last year. He remains tied for #2 all-time among Buckeye Trail middle school boys.
Our kids are getting stronger. They are learning how to race. They are getting more comfortable being uncomfortable. And the expectations continue to rise.
Still plenty of season left.
Go Warriors. 💙🖤
