RARE STUFF FROM MY PAST.....

I am not certain how I came across a recent 'headline' regarding actor Chris Pratt being castigated for thanking his wife for having such a healthy baby boy (I think the child is 2 years old). The problem with this from the current 'woke' crowd id that he did not mention that he has an older child from his first wife that may have health issues because he was born prematurely.

I recall back in the day while I was a child that I got 2 new shirts as a Christmas present from my parents; me mother asked me to try one on. I dutifully did so and came out, proudly wearing one of the shirts. As I was showing it off, my mother asked the fatal question; 'What's wrong with the other one?'

My mother was a saint and I loved her very much (still do, RIP mom) but this incident is similar to the Pratt incident. In today's world you cannot show any preference to anything or anyone because today, it means that you hate the others. We must take care what we say today because so many people will assume you hate the other shirt.

I just had a stimulating exchange with an old friend that had a much different understanding of teaching race to young children. My argument is, and was, that teaching the concept of skin color that makes a difference does not help but lay the groundwork for becoming a racist got some assistance from another contributor in the discussion. I do not argue differences with other in these areas as they have become part of a belief system and one cannot, on their own, dissuade someone from their belief.

However, I am also against those that have preferences of blue parakeets over green ones.

Today's is President's Day. When I was a lad, this holiday did not exist. Back in the day, we celebrated 2 presidents birthdays. For those who do not or cannot remember, we celebrated Lincoln's Birthday on February 12th and Washington's birthday on Feb 22nd. This was changed, I suppose, that too much time was taken to remember the 2 presidents; one that that created the country and one that kept it together. Given the quality of the people we have had in the office since that time, perhaps we should give the current and living ex-presidents the day off, as we should have a holiday called citizens day. On that day, the president should not be allowed to perform the roles of the officer, if only to reduce the harm they do to the people of this land.

This week is Super Bowl Weekend. As most people. I watch the program more foe the commercials rather than the game itself. I am posting my favorite here.

The beginning of the classic SB commercials, which was played only once is not my favorite, but it is iconic. (For those of you who do not know which one it is, remember 1984 and Apple).
