Welcome to the official page of IFMA - Integrated Fitness Martial Arts. The JEDOKAN ACADEMY is a family-oriented martial arts school.
The training method is focused on the development of the reflexes and body coordination. The system is geared towards versatility and self-actualization. JEDOKAN is a modern martial arts system based on traditional principles and discipline. It utilizes a unique training method that incorporates the most effective drills for self-defense into one comprehensive, dynamic system. While a martial arts
‘style’ limits an individual to a certain way of fighting, JEDOKAN’s special training methods condition its practitioners to be versatile and elusive. JEDOKAN specializes in training its members to be proficient in both empty-hand combat and weaponry. Unlike most martial arts training, JEDOKAN is not a single style with a specific focus on either punching, kicking, or grappling, but rather it is a unified system incorporating a wide variety of martial arts techniques in order to ensure complete versatility and adaptability. Some teachers believe that it doesn’t matter which martial arts system students choose because success is determined solely by individual ability. While it is true that individual ability plays a role in any martial arts training, it is the particular system that programs an individual’s reactions and responses, and it is this which determines success or failure in a confrontation. Accordingly, it is imperative that the system trains the individual to react appropriately to a variety of situations, meaning that the choice of system is just as important as individual ability. Jeff Jeds started martial arts training in the Far East, the region of his origin. He was about eight years old when he first learned boxing and practical self-defense from by his father and uncle, who were both in the military. When Jeff moved to the United States, he continued practicing and learning martial arts, moving on to Tae Kwon Do-Hapkido, Muay Thai, Krav Maga, and Shotokan Karate. In his quest for greater knowledge, he began training with Robert and Ben Torres, founders of the Kuroi-Samurai Shotokan Karate-Do. During his time with the Torres brothers, Jeff also joined the US chapter of the Karate Arnis Federation of the Philippines (KAFEPHIL), the founder and president of which was Dr. Guillermo “Doc” Barcelona Lengson. Dr. Lengson taught Jeff the Black Banders fighting system (which later was renamed by Jeff: “Lengson Karate Arnis,” known in the Philippines as “KAFEPHIL style;” a modernized form of Karate-Kickboxing and Arnis). Although Jeff trained in many forms of martial arts, analyzing and comparing the different styles and systems, ultimately, it was the training methods of the Torres brothers and Dr. Lengson, which he felt to be the most scientifically correct and realistically effective for both physical conditioning and attaining versatility in martial arts. With this in mind, Jeff began teaching people using a new approach to the martial arts, which integrated methods based on both Dr. Lengson’s system and the Torres brothers’ methods, in conjunction with techniques from other systems he had studied over the years, along with his experience in both competition and actual street fights. On August 9, 2000, the JEDOKAN TRIBE Martial Arts was founded, establishing a family-oriented school focused on teaching practitioners to become versatile and self-actualized. The many arts taught at this school are collectively referred to as JEDOKAN. In addition to the systems taught by Dr. Lengson and the Torres brothers, this approach also includes elements of Leo Fong’s Wei Kuen Do/Chi Fung; Bruce Lee’s Jeet Kune Do; T.Y. Wong’s Sil Lum Kung Fu; and Lau Bun’s Choy Lay Fut. With a rich history and broad base of technical diversity, JEDOKAN, the Way of the Versatile Warrior continues to grow through the use of sophisticated and effective training methods. Chief Instructor Jeff Jeds is a skilled teacher imparting wisdom, guidance, helpful feedback, and challenging training programs. As the founder of the Jedokan Institute, he is committed to providing the skills and training needed for students to be successful in all of life’s ventures. He is dedicated to this labor of love and to providing a safe, comfortable, familial atmosphere, which has been the catalyst for JEDOKAN’sexplosive growth. Our dedicated students at the Jedokan Institute span many races and ethnic groups and pride themselves on being members of a humble, caring, supportive family. Chief Instructor Jeff Jeds has created a safe place for kids and adults to develop their minds, bodies, and spirits while learning to walk the path of righteousness, strength, and discipline. In 2011, Jeff Jeds met martial arts legend Leo Fong, training partner and close friend of Bruce Lee. The relationship between Sifu Leo Fong and Jeff Jeds may be best described as father and son, as well as training partners and best friends. Leo had the opportunity to train in some of the world's most powerful systems, with some of the world's most accomplished martial artists, including Choy Lay Fut with Lau Bun; Sil Lum with T.Y. Wong; and Jeet Kune Do with Bruce Lee, and, together with Jeff, founded a lineage that embraced this history—as well his own arts of Wei Kuen Do and Chi Fung—and was intended to extend out into the future under Jeff’s leadership. The unification of these arts with Jeff’s existing system (JEDOKAN led to the establishment of a new martial arts Organization: Chen Tai Do–Way of the Versatile Warrior. Jeff was assisted in creating this Organization by two close friends and training partners: James Santi and a colleague whose current line of work requires that he be identified only by his Chen Tai Do name: Bì Àn. The direction of Chen Tai Do the Allied Warriors Organization will be governed which was formed on March 12, 2022, by Jeff “Yá Zì” Jeds (Founder); James “Suān Ní” Santi (10th dan); Bì Àn (10th dan); Klein “Qiú Niú” Buen (co-founder of WKD); and Manny “Bì Xì” Sanchez (co-founder of Jedokan, WKD instructor) with the objective of uniting everyone through discipline, brotherhood, and martial arts.
