Exercise dump from my most recent program. Bit of a mess between strength, power, hypertrophy, and cardio (not pictured because I suck at running)

Most sit-ups are limited by a bad strength curve.

When you hold a plate or dumbbell, the movement is hardest when you’re parallel with the ground and gets easier as you sit up. Using a cable fixes this by keeping tension throughout the entire range of motion, which is key for hypertrophy and effective resistance training (PMID: 20847704).

The 45° incline also changes the mechanics.
The rep starts more like a crunch (ribcage toward pelvis), then finishes with more posterior pelvic tilt (pelvis toward ribcage), training the abs through both roles in spinal flexion. The re**us abdominis functions as a single muscle, but regional activation can vary based on movement (PMID: 16826020).

So I like this for a better resistance profile since it’s theoretically more tension and useful reps.

Feeling dramatic

Hit a little milestone recently: weighing in at over 200lbs while sitting in single digit body fat (just barely on both fronts)

The number itself is kind of arbitrary, but as a teenager I remember thinking this would be a cool spot to get to one day. I’ve been heavier before, and I’ve been leaner before, but (to my knowledge) never hit both of these goals at the same time.

Not chasing perfection—just thought it was cool to finally check this box off the list.
