Kid CuDi Joins Cast Of Romantic Comedy "Two Night Stand"

Kid CuDi has joined the cast of the upcoming indie romantic comedy Two Night Stand, also starring Analeigh Tipton and Miles Teller.
According to THR, Two Night Stand will be directed by Max Nichols, who is making his directorial debut. The film focuses on "two people who meet online and get together for a one-night stand. The couple gets snowed in the next morning and are forced to spend more time together."
CuDi will play the boyfriend of Tipton's roommate, who will be played by Jessica Szohr. His character is "endlessly amused by [Tipton's character's] romantic difficulties."
The rapper/actor previously appearaed on HBO's How to Make It in America and will appear in an independent film with Entourage star Adrian Grenier titled Goodbye World.

Jay-Z Featured In New Obama For America Ad The Power of Our Voice

Continuing on the campaign trail, Obama for America has released a new video, The Power of Our Voice, featuring Hip-Hop mogul and longtime President Obama supporter, Jay-Z.
The video begins with Jay-Z touching on the hope that was felt across the nation when the POTUS was running for his first term. Scenes from Jay-Z's Made In America concert flash across the screen, culminating in a video message from President Obama addressing concertgoers about Jay-Z's perseverance and will to pursue the American Dream. Jay-Z later adds, “For so long, there was this voice that was silenced out there as far as exercising your right to vote. I think it was a voice that was silent because people had lost hope. They didn't believe that their voice mattered or counted.
"Now people are exercising their right, and you are starting to see the power of our vote. He made it mean something for the first time for a lot of people."
The president has not been shy about his connection with Jay-Z. On numerous occasions he has refered to his life story and music, and has even been spotted brushing the “dirt” of his shoulders, a move popularized by Hov's Timbaland produced hit “Dirt Off Your Shoulders.”
In late September, Jay alongside his wife Beyoncé, hosted a private campaign fundraiser for the commander in chief at the 40/40 club in Manhattan.

ASCAP To Honor MC Lyte, DJ Beverly Bond & More For Annual Women Behind The Music Series

Performing rights society ASCAP will be kicking off their 4th annual Women Behind The Music series tomorrow (Oct. 16), in New York City.
The event honoring top industry women will be held in New York's Meatpacking district at club, Tenjune. Women Behind The Music was created with the intentions to not only showcase the talents and success of artists and songwriters in the forefront of the music industry, but also the women behind them, such as, attorneys, managers, music publishers, and label executives.
This year's New York honorees include DJ and BLACK GIRLS ROCK! Inc. founder Beverly Bond, Island/Def Jam Music Group Vice President of Business & Legal Affairs Nicole Wyskoarko, and Universal Music Publishing Senior Vice President and Co-Head of East Coast Operations, Jessica Rivera.
"Each woman we have honored since our inaugural event three years ago is a legend in her own right, and I'm thrilled to continue this amazing series with another round of outstanding and deserving honorees,” ASCAP Vice President of Membership, Rhythm & Soul Nicole George said in a statement to HipHopWired.
Some of the past honorees included: Janelle Monáe, Siedah Garrett, Monica, Kelly Rowland, Melanie Fiona, Sheila E., Kandi Burruss, Goapele, and R&B group Electrik Red. The opening event in New York will be followed by two more in the same vein in Los Angeles on Oct. 17, honoring, MC Lyte and Ledisi, among others, while T.I.'s wife, Tameka “Tiny” Harris will be honored in Atlanta on Oct. 18.
