šŸŽ‚ 29 & So Incredibly Grateful! šŸŽ‚

This birthday looked a little different, but somehow it ended up being one of the most special ones yet. ā¤ļø

My family surprised me with a birthday party, and when I thought my heart couldn’t get any fuller, my best friend flew in just to celebrate with me! šŸ„¹šŸ’• We spent the day at the spa relaxing, laughing, catching up, and just enjoying each other before coming home to even more love and surprises.

And listen… just because I’m still in quarantine after my bone marrow transplant does NOT mean I can’t party! šŸ˜‚šŸŽ‰ I may have to celebrate a little differently right now, but after everything this past year has brought me through, I’m learning to celebrate every moment, every milestone, and every year of LIFE.

There was a time when so much of my energy was focused on simply getting through the next day. So turning 29, surrounded by people who love me enough to make sure I still felt celebrated during this season, means more than I can put into words.

This birthday wasn’t about where I could go or what I could do. It was about love showing up for me right where I am. ā¤ļø

Thank you to my family, my bestie, and everyone who called, texted, posted, prayed for me, and made me feel loved.

Chapter 29… I’m just grateful to be here, grateful to be healing, and VERY grateful that quarantine couldn’t cancel the party. šŸ˜‚šŸ„‚šŸŽ‚

Happy birthday to me! šŸŽ‚šŸŽ‰šŸ¤

This birthday feels different.

I’m not just celebrating another year of life. I’m celebrating everything I had to overcome to still be here, smiling, growing, healing, and becoming the woman I prayed I would be.

This past chapter of my life taught me that life can change in ways you never expected. I’ve had moments that challenged my strength, my faith, my confidence, and even the way I saw myself. But through it all, I kept going.

Today, I’m grateful for LIFE. Grateful for another birthday. Grateful for the people who love me. Grateful for every lesson, every closed door, every new beginning, and even the difficult seasons that helped shape me.

This year, I’m choosing myself more. I’m protecting my peace. I’m giving myself permission to grow, change my mind, dream bigger, love deeper, and create a life that genuinely feels good to me.

I don’t have everything figured out, and I’m okay with that. I’m just thankful I get another year to discover who I’m becoming.

Here’s to more life, more love, more healing, more purpose, more laughter, more adventures, and more moments that remind me how beautiful it is to simply be here.

Happy birthday to me. šŸ„‚šŸŽ‚āœØ

The biggest glow-up isn’t physical… it’s having a nervous system that no longer mistakes chaos for love. šŸ¤

A calm nervous system changes everything. šŸ¤

Healing isn’t only about what you think. It’s also about teaching your body that it’s safe to slow down, rest, feel, and respond instead of constantly reacting.

Emotional regulation doesn’t mean you never get anxious, overwhelmed, angry, or triggered. It means learning how to recognize what you’re feeling without allowing every emotion to control what you do next.

Sometimes growth looks like choosing silence instead of reacting. Setting a boundary without guilt. Walking away from chaos. Resting without feeling lazy. Taking a moment before responding. Protecting your peace without needing everyone to understand.

A regulated nervous system doesn’t make life perfect. It helps you move through an imperfect life without losing yourself in the process.

Peace is a health goal too. šŸ¤

Choosing yourself may disappoint other people, but abandoning yourself will always cost you more.

For years, my life revolved around surviving sickle cell disease. I experienced painful crises, hospital stays, medications, fear, and uncertainty.

I chose hope when I entered a gene therapy trial. When sickle cell returned two years later, I had to choose courage all over again. Because I had already undergone gene therapy, I could not simply try it again. My remaining option was a half matched bone marrow transplant.

That choice required me to put my life on pause. I spent months in the hospital, endured treatments that challenged me physically and emotionally, and entered a year of isolation while my body recovered.

But I chose me.

Choosing yourself is not always a spa day or a motivational quote. Sometimes it means making the terrifying decision. Setting the boundary. Leaving what no longer feels safe. Resting without guilt. Starting over. Trusting yourself when nobody else fully understands what you are carrying.

I spent years fighting to stay alive. Now I am learning how to build a life that feels worth living.

This is your reminder that you are allowed to choose your peace. You are allowed to choose your healing. You are allowed to choose the life you fought so hard to have.

Choose yourself, even when it is difficult. You are worth the decision.

What would choosing yourself look like for you today? šŸ¤

Resilience is being afraid and choosing courage anyway.

For me, resilience has looked like fighting sickle cell disease, going through a gene therapy clinical trial, and eventually undergoing a half-matched bone marrow transplant.

It has looked like hospital rooms, treatments, isolation, uncertainty, and days when I had no idea what my future would look like.

People often tell me, ā€œYou’re so strong.ā€ But strength doesn’t mean I was never scared. It doesn’t mean I never cried, questioned why this was happening, or had days when I was simply tired of fighting.

Resilience was deciding to keep going anyway.

When gene therapy didn’t give me the outcome I had hoped for, I had another decision to make: keep fighting.

That decision eventually led me to my bone marrow transplant—a journey that challenged me physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Through all of this, I’ve learned that sometimes life doesn’t go according to the plan you created for yourself. Sometimes you have to release who you thought you would be and have the courage to discover who you are becoming.

I’m still healing.
I’m still rebuilding.
I’m still becoming.

And I’m learning to appreciate every chapter—even the ones I never would have chosen.

Because after everything I’ve been through, one thing remains true:

I’m still here. My story is still being written. And I’m still choosing courage. šŸ¤Ž

Hard seasons have a way of making us question everything. They can leave us feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, and wondering if we’ll ever make it through.

But don’t run from the pain. Walk through it.

Cry if you need to. Be angry if you have to. Feel every emotion that comes with the journey. Healing isn’t about pretending you’re okay. It’s about giving yourself permission to feel and then choosing not to stay there.

When you’ve cried your tears and caught your breath, stand back up.

Your setback is not your identity. Your pain is not your purpose. Your story isn’t over.

The world still needs the gifts inside of you. Someone is waiting for the hope only you can give. Keep going. Keep believing. Keep showing up.

You were created for a purpose, and no hard season can take away what God has already placed inside of you.

Don’t stop in the middle of the storm.

Go right through it. ā¤ļø

The hardest battle you’ll ever fight isn’t with the world. It’s with the voice in your own head.

The moment you let other people’s opinions become louder than your own, you slowly lose yourself. You start questioning your worth. You begin shrinking to make other people comfortable. You start believing lies that were never yours to carry.

Healing has taught me that confidence isn’t built when everyone approves of you. Confidence is built when you decide that your opinion of yourself matters more than the opinions of people who have never lived your story.

People will misunderstand you.
People will judge you.
People will project their fears onto you.

None of that changes who you are.

You are not your mistakes.
You are not your past.
You are not your diagnosis.
You are not the labels someone else placed on you.

Your value has never been determined by another person’s ability to see it.

Choose to become so rooted in who you are that criticism becomes noise instead of your identity. Protect your peace. Guard your mind. Keep growing into the person God created you to be.

The strongest opinion you’ll ever have is the one you hold about yourself.

What is one lie about yourself that you’re no longer believing?
