There’s a reason Sir Alex Ferguson used to switch to that fluid 4-4-2 when teams sat deep, and I think Michael Carrick should bring it back at United.

We saw against Hull how difficult we can look when a team stays compact and takes away the space our attackers want to use.

Ferguson understood that sometimes you have to change the way you attack these teams, and his fluid 4-4-2 gave United two forwards to occupy the centre-backs while the wide players could move inside and create more problems.

That movement made it harder for defenders to simply stay in their positions and wait for United to cross the ball into a crowded box.

Carrick has the players to try something similar, especially with Ε eΕ‘ko, Cunha, Rashford, Mbeumo and Bruno all capable of moving around the front line.

I'm not saying Carrick should abandon his system, but against teams that sit deep, maybe it's time to bring back one of Sir Alex's old tricks. ❀️

Imagine Bruno, Cunha, Rashford and Ε eΕ‘ko constantly switching positions against a back five... that's the kind of problem I want Carrick giving defenders. πŸ˜‚β€οΈ

πŸš¨πŸ”΄ Manchester United offered chance to sign Jean-Philippe Mateta

Manchester United has been offered the opportunity to sign Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta as his representatives explore a potential late move before the transfer window closes.

According to Graeme Bailey, Mateta’s agents are pushing for a transfer, with Manchester United and Tottenham among the clubs offered the chance to bring in the French forward.

However, Crystal Palace are understood to have no interest in allowing Mateta to leave, meaning any potential deal would face a major obstacle from the Premier League club.

πŸ”΄ United fans, if Jean-Philippe Mateta became available, would you want Manchester United to make a late move for him?

πŸš¨πŸ”΄ BREAKING: Manchester United could receive a boost with Mason Mount fit to feature against Ipswich Town after recovering from his recent injury.

According to Chris Wheeler of the Daily Mail, Mount could be available for the upcoming fixture, while the minor nature of Amad Diallo’s training injury could also see the winger return to the right flank.

That could have an important tactical impact for Michael Carrick, potentially allowing Bryan Mbeumo to move back into a more central role.

Mbeumo has impressed when operating through the middle, but Amad’s availability would give Carrick another option on the right while Mount’s return would add further depth and creativity to the attacking unit.

🚨 REVEALED: insider Reveals Carlos Baleba Manchester United debut date

Manchester United may have to wait until October to see Carlos Baleba make his competitive debut, with the midfielder continuing his recovery from injury.

According to Danyal Khan and Adrian Kajumba, Baleba is expected to return from his injury around the middle of September, potentially putting him in contention around United's fixtures against Manchester City and Fulham.

However, the three-week international break could delay his debut further, with October now a realistic timeframe for the Cameroon international to be fully ready.

The extended recovery period could ultimately benefit Baleba, giving him more time to regain full fitness and acclimatise to his new surroundings before United enter a busy period of Premier League, Champions League and domestic cup football.

Depending on his international commitments, the additional time could allow Baleba to build his fitness gradually rather than being rushed back into action.

In recent weeks, Manchester United has been linked with three left fullbacks: Raum, Hall, and Balde. Of the three, Lewis Hall seems very difficult to sign this season.

Therefore, the two players who appear attainable are Raum and Balde. Raum, who is 28 years old, was one of the best left backs in the top five leagues, with a very high output for assists and chances created. Balde is a young, exciting, and talented left fullback with exceptional potential.

Both options present challenges: Raum is already 28 years old, which poses an age limit challenge for the players United is signing. Balde has experienced a series of injuries over the last two seasons while playing for Barcelona.

Between these two options, who do you think is the right choice for Manchester United to sign? π‘π€π”πŒ OR 𝐁𝐀𝐋𝐃𝐄? πŸ”΄πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡

πŸš¨πŸ”΄ Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has admitted his side face tactical problems against teams that line up with a back five, following the disappointing defeat to Hull City.

Asked whether his system could struggle against opponents using a back-five formation, Carrick acknowledged that United still need to find solutions when facing different tactical setups.

β€œSo yeah, there's definitely issues playing against different systems, you know. So we've got to find the answers for that,” Carrick said.

The admission comes after Hull successfully frustrated United, who struggled to create clear chances despite dominating possession for large periods of the game.

However, Carrick was keen to stress that the defeat does not mean his entire tactical approach is wrong, pointing to United's strong record over the previous six or seven months.

β€œWe haven't lost many games in six, seven months. So again, I get it, we've lost today, and I understand there are questions to be asked, but it doesn't mean everything's wrong because we've lost a game.”

Carrick believes United did plenty of things well but accepts that the team must improve when opponents adopt different defensive structures.

β€œWe've done a lot of good things and we did some good things today, but it gets lost.”

πŸ’ United fans, do you think Hull’s tactics exposed a genuine weakness in Carrick’s system?

πŸš¨πŸ”΄ INEOS NEEDS TO TAKE A SERIOUS LOOK AT LEWIS HALL!

If you watched Newcastle take on Liverpool today, it was impossible not to notice Lewis Hall. The Manchester United recruitment team should be paying VERY close attention because this is exactly the type of left-back the squad needs.

United simply cannot afford to enter another long season relying heavily on Luke Shaw as the main option at left-back. We need a player who can defend, attack, handle pressure and maintain a high level of intensity throughout the game β€” and Hall showed plenty of those qualities against Liverpool. πŸ‘€

πŸ“Š LEWIS HALL vs LIVERPOOL:
β€’ 11 defensive contributions
β€’ 8 ball recoveries
β€’ 5 duels won
β€’ 4 crosses
β€’ 3 clearances
β€’ 3 tackles won
β€’ 2 interceptions
β€’ 2 successful dribbles
β€’ 1 big chance created
β€’ 1 foul committed

πŸ›‘οΈ Defensively Reliable: Hall looked composed against Liverpool's attacking threat. His positioning was sharp, his challenges were well timed and he showed he wasn't afraid to compete in difficult 1v1 situations.

⚑ Quality Going Forward: What makes him even more interesting is his ability to contribute in possession. He wasn't simply sitting deep and defending β€” he was willing to carry the ball forward, deliver crosses and push Newcastle up the pitch.

πŸ”‹ Relentless Work Rate: Hall kept moving between both boxes, helping defensively before immediately becoming an option in attack. That kind of intensity would be valuable for United, especially in a system that demands plenty from its full-backs.

πŸ—£οΈ Gary Neville's Praise: Neville also highlighted Hall's footwork and sharpness during the game, another indication of how impressive his performance was.

One controversial late penalty decision shouldn't distract from the bigger picture. Hall produced a performance that showed why his name deserves to be discussed among the Premier League's best young left-backs.

INEOS has already made it clear that squad improvement is a priority.

So why not strengthen one of the positions that clearly needs more depth?

πŸ“ž MAKE THE CALL.

πŸ”΄ Bring Lewis Hall to Manchester.
πŸ”΄ Give United a genuine long-term option at left-back.
πŸ”΄ Don't wait until another club comes knocking.

INEOS, MOVE! LEWIS HALL SHOULD BE ON THE RADAR. 🏟️πŸ”₯
