This week marks my 20th year in the fitness industry. I can’t believe how fast time goes and how much I’ve learned, and continue to learn.

I’m often asked how long I’ve been teaching yoga, and how I started. I decided I’ll give the history here, today, and how I got to where I am... for those who don’t know.

I was actually an Art major in college. My undergrad degree is Art Studio, where I focused on a mix of painting and art history. I was always active since I was a kid. I played tennis and soccer, took years of dance, and started taking fitness classes, like Step and high-impact aerobics, which I loved, in high school.

After college, I explored various jobs in art galleries, and retail (I had at one point majored in fashion marketing), but nothing was really clicking. I had worked with a personal trainer occasionally, and was always obsessed with the gym, and that’s where the light bulb went off in my head, and I decided to get my personal training certification. I was hired by 24 Hour Fitness, did my first cert through them, and soon after got certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). I absolutely loved working in a gym and training clients. I had finally found what lit me up inside.

After a couple of years in personal training, I completed my Masters in Education, with the idea of becoming an elementary school teacher, but during my program, I had missed working full-time in the gym so much, that I stayed with it. I realized it’s what I’m meant to do. Soon after, I started teaching group fitness classes (cycling, body sculpt, Pilates), and then got into Barre.

For several years I primarily taught Pure Barre and even opened a studio, which I then sold. During this time I was taking a lot of heated power yoga at CorePower, which I fell in love with. That was naturally my next step...

.. and now here I am! 20 years in fitness, and nearly 10 years teaching yoga, always learning and growing. I’m so grateful to get to do what I absolutely love everyday and to help others feel their best. It never feels like work, and even after teaching at least 5000+ classes, I still get so excited with each and every one.

What a beautiful Labor Day Weekend ...

I’ve always loved relaxing in the sun. The warmth is so soothing and just feels so good.

Spending some time each day in the sun is also an amazing source of Vitamin D, which has so many benefits ~

Although we’re moving into fall, our summer here in SoCal feels like it continues on ... which I am super grateful for 💦🌴🌞

✨How do you honor yourself? What do you do for YOU everyday? What is your favorite form of self-care, and how do you set boundaries to protect your energy?

✨These all took me many years to understand and practice. As a “people pleaser” since I was a kid, I was always the one to say yes, even if I wanted to say no, because I was worried about hurting someone’s feelings.

✨When I was on the tennis team in high school, I would even give points away in matches out of worry that my opponent would think I wasn’t being honest about where the ball hit the line, so I would just let them have the point. I know this sounds ridiculous, but it was me... always concerned with everyone else, and not taking care of myself and my needs.

✨At this point in my life, it feels amazing, after so much soul searching and deep work on connecting to my intuition, to now feel confident setting boundaries, speaking up for myself, saying no when I want to say no, and really deeply honoring what aligns with me and what doesn’t.

✨Knowing what is right for you and being true to that, creates an immense amount of freedom when you live this way. It also causes others to respect you, and allows you to attract more of what you truly desire into your life, because you’re aligning with your essence and your highest vibration. It is such a beautiful thing.

Nourishing your body has to do with more than just eating certain nutrient dense foods 💓

It’s also about how the food was prepared, how you feel when eating it, and taking your time to enjoy and appreciate it 🙏

You can tell that this beautiful avocado toast from (adorable little spot right in the heart of Beverly Hills) was made with love. It’s so pretty and colorful with the sprouts, the leaves, the seeds and seasoning... and it was so delicious!!😍🥑✨

It makes a difference when you prepare and eat food with loving care, knowing that it is giving your body what it needs, taking the time to enjoy it and feeling all the gratitude!💚

I’ve been fortunate to have always loved being active my whole life ... I grew up playing soccer and tennis, danced, and loved going to the gym, taking classes, hiking and more!🌸

Still, there are those days where I’d rather put it off, stay in bed longer, or simply do something else. What always keeps me consistent, is remembering how amazing I feel afterwards! 💫

What I’ve always told my clients, is that the hardest part of a workout is literally just getting there and starting. Once you get into a groove, you simply can’t live without it!🤩

Consistency is key!! Find a way to move your body and sweat 💦 most days of the week! It will make you feel strong, vibrant, will lift your mood, boost your immunity, help you sleep better, eat better, and feel more glowy inside and out!! 🌟

Portobello Mushroom Wrap 🍄

Sprouted turmeric sweet potato tortilla
Sliced portobello mushrooms (cooked for just a few minutes with a little olive oil)

Happy Sunday! It’s August 1st!! I love starting the new month by setting intentions and goals to keep me on purpose. And what a beautiful morning for it!🦋

Sitting out on my balcony, looking at the Hollywood Hills, with my pup and beautiful plants, drinking my organic superfood coffee with Chaga (for strong immunity), feeling super grateful for all I’m looking to accomplish this month ... most of all my new holistic wellness membership program (stay tuned for all the details!!)🦋

Wellness becomes intuitive when you learn how to really listen to yourself, what you need, and trust your deep inner knowing. It takes practice and tools, but once you get it, it is so freeing!!! I can’t wait to share more with you!🦋
