Freedom of Speech in Books Matters.
It’s Banned Books Week — a time to celebrate the stories that make us think, question, and sometimes… squirm.
What makes you uncomfortable about certain books?
Is it the language, the themes, the honesty?
Books are where we get to wrestle with uncomfortable ideas safely.
They’re how we explore what’s dark, complicated, or even offensive.
Instead of banning books, what if we just built more awareness?
Clearer communication for parents and readers about adult themes, triggers, or sensitive content.
Not to shut stories down—but to give people the context they need to engage bravely and consciously.
Freedom of speech doesn’t just protect the stories we agree with—it protects the ones that challenge us.
So maybe today, go read something that makes you squirm a little.
Let it spark a conversation. Let it teach you something about yourself.
Because discomfort isn’t danger—it’s a doorway to understanding.

Here’s a quick reset I use to GET PRESENT before high-stakes moments:
👃 Smell — What scents are in the air? Try to name a few.
👂 Hear — Count 10 distinct sounds around you.
🖐 Feel — Scan your body head to toe. Where is there tension? Breathe into it. Relax as you go.

If at first you don’t succeed… crumple it up, learn, and try again.
Failure isn’t the opposite of progress—it is progress. Every misstep sharpens the next attempt.
And when the nerves hit? Shift the focus off yourself and onto service. Fear shrinks when purpose grows.

➡️ What ceiling am I creating—and why am I justifying it?
➡️ What am I most excited to get uncomfortable with tomorrow?

We spend so much energy trying to hide the parts of ourselves we feel embarrassed about…
and chasing approval from others instead of giving it to ourselves.
