Early evening stroll on the Lower Beacon Hill Trail in Griffith Park just a few hundred meters (as the crow flies) from the barn. Downtown Glendale and snow-capped San Gabriel’s in the distance.

Our forest is home to numerous commercial packers who await your visit for day rides, dunnage drops, pack trips and almost any adventure that includes the equine.
But if you're not packing, what do you do if you see them coming? Remember, there is etiquette to follow on the trails:
• Hikers and bikers always yield to horses/mules
• Communicate with the packers
• When safe, move to the downhill side of the trail
• Control your pets and keep them far away
These photos below show Forest Service employees who are packers/animal handlers riding with "pack strings" who are also property of the Forest Service. These packers and mules are supporting trail crews and rangers responsible for making your experience a memorable one, one hoof at a time.
For more information on where our pack stations are, look here: https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/stelprdb5176051.docx
