Lauryn Morris of LightsOut Basketball is the week 3 Women's Drew League Player of the Week

One of two players to score 15 points as LightsOut reeled off a 78-46 victory over Pasadena Elite Basketball, 5’9 forward Morris made her presence known all over the box score, throwing 3 assists and grabbing 5 rebounds in just 3 quarters of play. The Irvine native also had an incredibly efficient game, shooting 80% from the field and 4 of 4 from the charity stripe.

LightsOut led nearly the entire game; after a handful of lead changes in the early going, they established their front-runner status at the beginning of the second quarter and spent the rest of the match pulling away to finish with their 31-point lead. Lo’s standout performance was one of many for LightsOut, including Bridgette McIntyre (15p 4r 2a), Mariah Blake (12p 3r 4a), and Aniese Palmore (11p 4r 3a), and exemplified the LightsOut philosophy.

Jordan Hamilton of I-Can All-Stars is the men’s week 3 Player of the Week

For the second time this season, J went HAM to earn a POTW nod, stepping up in a big way in his team’s 98-82 win over Prosper & Conquer. Don’t let the score fool you; this was a hard fought victory for I-Can. Despite leading by 17 points in the middle of the game, I-Can was forced to fend off a surging P&C team powered by a fierce rivalry between the two teams’ coaching staff and outstanding performance from P&C’s Josh Frazer (24p 6r 4a).

However, as Prosper closed the gap and even briefly stole the lead in the 3Q, Hamilton put his team on his shoulders, going into total takeover mode. 5 of his 9 assists came in the 4th as he used the threat of his scoring to draw defenders away from even bigger threats like 3-point sniper Terrell Gomez (18 points in the game, 13 in the 4th) and all-around standout Gerry Blakes (22p 3r 3a). And Hamilton did the dirty work too, pulling 5 of his 14 boards in the 4th. The league’s reigning MVP is maintaining an iron grip on the pole position for this year’s award by putting his team first, and playing big on both sides of the ball
