SUP with Wade

Thank you everyone for the nice notes and 'Happy Birthday!' I'm wrapping up in Turkey and will be home soon. This mutt is "Smiley," he's our camp dog and greets me every morning with so much excitement! I wish I could bring him home, but his pack would have to find a new leader. The helicopter in the back is a civilian Chinook, called a "234" - she is a lifting machine! The fire season in Turkey is coming to an end. Looking forward to the next adventure.

Yesterday was a beautiful at SUP with Wade for the Wednesday morning meet up group! What an AWESOME way to start the day, plus some locals 🐬🐬🐬 stopped by to say Hi. We had 3 pods of common dolphins cruise by while getting their breakfast near buoy 86.

This morning at SUP with Wade was beautiful and warm! The calm and glassy water was perfect for learning. We also saw so much sea life: bat rays, baby leopard sharks, garibaldi, and schools of fish! What a fun-tastic way to start the day!

Yesterday morning was beautiful and we had an adventure paddling out to the Los Angeles Harbor Light, also known as Angels Gate Lighthouse. The lighthouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was built in 1913. It's one of many favorite places to explore.

Tuesday and Wednesday mornings this week at SUP with Wade... The sun broke through the clouds, the wind calmed and we walked on glass... Life is good 🤙

Enjoyed this morning's walk on the beach, watching the waves 🌊, the textures & colors of the ocean, & the frolicking dolphins 🐬 in the distance... ahhh, I love this place!
Met up with 5 awesome students. They had a tutorial on land before launching from the beach. We paddled on glass! They paddled along the buoy line, which is used like a slalom course.
We paddled out to the "Danger Zone" (dont worry, no paddlers were harmed- it's a sign to let a sail boat captain know it's too shallow). On the way back to the beach, we played SUP ball games. The ladies seriously crushed the guys, but we all won 🏆 for having a FUN-TASTIC time on the water. We went over more basics too: stagger stance, surf 🏄‍♂️ stance, how to brace, walk on the board and do pivot turns. Only 2 went for swims 💦 what a great day to be on (or in) the water!

We have a bunch of paddlers coming out tomorrow at eight for our Wednesday morning meet up. If you want to grab a board for $20, come to the youth center at 8:00. Yesterday was beautiful conditions, a fun lesson with a great lady, and an epic encounter with some playful dolphins. A pod of 10 swam near us and were teaching their little ones. Of course every time I had my camera out, they'd swim away 😂 Silly camera shy 🐬🐬🐬
