For over 40 years, we have been practicing Tai Chi Chuan in Griffith Park every Saturday morning. Our group continues to grow with people from all around!
In 1968, our group was founded by a man named Marshall Ho'o - a distinguished Tai Chi Chuan practitioner, acupuncturist, and member of the Black Belt Magazine Hall of Fame. He also held a post as a professor of Oriental History at the California Institute of the Arts and was Chairman of the NTCCA (National Tai Chi Chuan Association). To this day, his legacy lives on in his seven children, his infl
Operating as usual
[05/17/21] We are now back at Bronson Park and pretty much back to our regular schedule, which can be found at: TaiChiLA.com. We're still being a little cautious as not everyone is vaccinated. But so far everyone that has come to join our group on Saturday morning has been vaccinated. Plus for the most part we're about 6-10' apart, and we're outside. Note: Parking has become more of a premium in Bronson Park because of all the people who have taken up hiking since a lot of the gym's have closed down. But, you usually don't have to park more than 2 short blocks before you enter the park.
[03/20/20] If you are just now visiting our site for the first time, or the first time in a while, we are adhering to the CDCs rules. Which means for the time being we are not having our usual classes on Saturday mornings. I hope that we will be able to resume soon. We will certainly post that when we begin again. This is the first major disruption to a Tai Chi schedule in 52 years. We have always been at the park on Saturday mornings. Even when it rains. Even when it pours we have been there; if only briefly. This is, obviously, a highly unusual situation. I am going to try and use this time to put together some video. I have been wanting to put something together for a while. At the moment I see the real need for that. Any an all videos that I put together will be available on our website for our participants at the park. This will be, of course, free. I'm specifying that the videos will be available to our participants at the park because I like to think of these learning tools as more of a reminder of what we teach at the park, rather than a stand alone video instruction. So, when we resume, if you would like to have access to the videos, please stop by the park. Join us in practice; and I'll be happy to give you a pass code.
[01/26/20] Great schedule in the park these days. 8:30 to 9:15 two person work. 9:15 to 10:00 am, Sword class, 10:00 am Participate in the Short Form and Long Form. 10:45 to 11:30 Long Form instruction. A lot to participate in on Saturday mornings.

Once again, an incredible thanks to Susan, one of the NTCCA's board members, for her wonderful, organic feast and everyone's participation! You are the reason we continue to practice this wonderful and historic art.
We also send a huge thanks to those around the world who join us in our practice of Chinese martial arts.

To all of our park guests, please be aware that parking availability will decrease from here on out. Sadly, Beachwood, a popular entrance leading to the Hollywood sign, is now officially closed. This means that people will be coming to our neck of the woods to find parking and hiking trails.
Fear not! Our instructors will be showing up early (as we encourage you to do the same to secure a spot). If you can, arrive before 8:30 to find a spot near the park itself.
We will continue our Tai Chi Chuan instruction every Saturday!
Very exciting! The NTCCA (National Tai Chi Chuan Association) is beginning to certify our advanced members so that they can pass the torch onto the next generation. We are also administering certificates for those who have demonstrated progress and passion in learning our classic art form.

[11/23/16] It's Thanksgiving tomorrow. We hope everyone has a wonderful day with family and friends. We want to express Thanks to all the Chinese masters who have developed, handed down, and shared (Tai Chi) this great art form with us here in the west! Happy Thanksgiving!
[11/21/16] Since Tai Chi is sometimes described as a moving meditation, it is often misinterpreted as a kind of "moving" yoga. Our personal belief is that Tai Chi and Yoga are about as similar as living in the ocean and living on land. Both are beneficial, but in radically different ways, as is the approach to studying each of these art forms.
Don't forget to come by for some Tai Chi and community! We're always here. Every Saturday.
The Tai Chi Group Long Form begins at 10:00am.
