These can get tricky. An alternate double KB snatch requires finding your rhythm quickly. But once you do, they will gas you fast.

Start with snatching one at a time first, but dip down on the drop catch. This will help with the timing of eventually driving simultaneously.

Abs, abs, abs! No matter what science and time tested nutrition says, all people want to see are ABS!
⠀⠀
However, they do need to be trained diligently and frequently to be more effective than aesthetically pleasing. Abs are the center piece of a Christmas dinner, they pull the entire table together. Question is are you training them responsibly to keep your body working as efficient as possible (with proper diet will give you the look as well)?
⠀⠀
Here are two simple barbell movements that will keep you functional and sexy at the same time!
⠀⠀
▪️Landmines. This is a rotational exercise I see most commonly performed incorrect. Keep your arms locked out and load your hips in athletic-stance. Roll your shoulders and keep your head neutral through entire exercise.
⠀⠀
▪️Barbell Rollouts. I prefer barbell over wheel because of lat engagement and variation of hand positions. Start in push-up position with pelvis tucked (squeeze ‘dem butt cheeks). Roll only as far your back and hips stay locked in hollowed position. If it breaks uniform pull back. Look at rollouts as just a plank in motion ✅

Injuries SUCK...

But not training because of injuries is for SUCKAS!!!
⠀⠀
One of the biggest concerns to have for folk over 40, random pains and possible setbacks from just merely existing. My God the countless mornings when my hips or lower back just don’t want to move with the rest of my body.
⠀⠀
But as I’ve state all the time to my clients, injuries are just opportunities to optimize the body in other areas. Be grateful for what you have v. what you can’t.
⠀⠀
My calf is blasted, SO! I have two arms and ☝🏾 leg. So what to do? Have fun practicing different dynamic stability core exercises with a kettlebell and stretching.

It’s Tuesday and I’m reppin’ my hood! Over 40 years and I’m always drawn to home.

What you see on television and in the movies is just a micro fragment of what DA REAL IS!

I saw hard working individuals like my mother bust their asses everyday to make life comfy for us little knuckleheads. They were overworked, never complained, and always available for us kiddos, ALWAYS! It was truly a village in my hood.

All these factors instilled in me a strong sense of family, work ethic, never quite, and public commune.

As you get older, one of the most important things to always include in your training is mobility. You don’t put in the effort to activate your CNS, wake up your joints and tendons and prep your spin for stress, YOU ARE DOOMED!

Hence why I enjoy Flow movements. The beauty of Flow is there is no ☝🏾 way.
⠀⠀
Starting from a loaded stretch, I explode to extended feet (stretching my tibialis), working through thoracic flexion and extension. Then throw some kick-throughs in for a little rotational love.

When you get older (like over 40 older that is), you have to get serious with your training focus. You also have to be kinder to your body...

Train HARD-smartly should be the correct phrase, not train SMARTER-not harder approach. You get nowhere BSing your workouts making yourself believe you doing “smart” work that puts no stress for muscle growth or fat loss.

The most overly used hip/glute activator, while still being the most under-correctly performed.

Listen, I’m not going to harbor on the negative... just the good checkpoints to ALWAYS be mindful of:
⠀⠀
☑️ keep knees and feet hip width apart or wider throughout movement. The idea of band monster walks are to reinforce knee drive in hinge/quad movements.
☑️ one band, PLEASE!
☑️always neutral spine. No leaning over. Remember, lazy start leads to a crappy ending.
☑️ use as a warmup or teaching tool, THATS IT!
☑️ Ok, maybe a glute burning workout exercise... SOMETIMES.

Stronger biceps come with great grip, so why not combine the two?

I know this is not what kettlebells are intended for (🤫 don't tell the kettlebell elites). But they also shouldn't be this small either hahaha!

Kneeling kettlebell curls will force more grip strength which while keeping more contraction in the biceps. Also kneeling takes the ability to sway using your back for the lift.

Ive been a proud coach in the fitness industry for almost 20years, and I NEVER 🛑 learning 🤓, I NEVER 🛑 growing 🧠💪🏾, and most importantly, I NEVER 🛑 failing 🤦🏾‍♂️. I embrace falling down but never believing that’s where you belong is the 🔑 to success.

I say all this because one of my best friends, and one of the smartest dudes I have the privilege to always hang with @jayferruggia, was dropping some coaching science on me. I got exposed! I struggled with this movement. I also loved that. Nothing taste better than humble 🥧

He grew up normal like the rest of us, except ☝🏾 thing, he has work ethic better than most. So keep your sympathy because I’m sure he will out-lift you and your mama any day of the week.

So when you are trying to “find” your inspiration to look and feel better, I can only say look 👀 DEEP inside yourself as to why you want a better body. As for Ryan, look to him as to how he found his inspiration instead of him BEING your INSPIRATIONAL CHARM...
