THE ORIGIN OF THE MALINOIS LEGEND 🇧🇪🐾

The Belgian Malinois takes its name from Malines (Mechelen), Belgium, where the short-haired Belgian Shepherd was developed in the late 19th century. Early breeders valued a capable, intelligent and hardy shepherd dog,. one built to work alongside farmers and shepherds in demanding outdoor conditions.

Beginning in 1891, Belgian breeders worked to standardize their native shepherd dogs, helping shape the Malinois we know today: athletic, alert, intelligent and driven to work. More than a century later, that working heritage is still at the heart of the breed🐾🤎
