Our hearts are heavy today, as we just learned of the tragic passing of one of our beloved members, Robert “Bob” George.

Robert was a good soul with a big heart and bright smile. A longtime BBG member, Robert was an avid cyclist. You may have had the pleasure of knowing him from friendly gym banter, or even just a smile in passing. Robert was, what our family refers to as, “The Good Stuff”. He will be truly missed.

Please take the time to read about Robert and the impact he made on all of the lives he touched (link in our bio).

You can do your part to make the roads a safer place for cyclists by practicing “Robert’s reach” or the Dutch reach when opening your car door. This is a practice for drivers and passengers where, rather than using your hand closest to the door to open it, you use your far hand. This causes your body to swivel and naturally look for oncoming cyclists. Slow down, save lives and make the streets safer for our community. ❤️

A HUGE challenge that we’ve faced so far has been finding a place to move your neighborhood gym to.

We found a space (open floor plan, skylights, garage roll up doors, zoned for a gym, & plenty of neighborhood parking) - and now we need to secure funding to be able to sign a lease.

Thank you to all who celebrated with us in saying “Farewell Hyperion!”

We had an emotional & memorable night giving our beloved BBG the proper send off that it so well deserved!

We are still looking for BBG’s new home, but there are prospects on the horizon. I don’t have any solid news to report at this time, but we are excited about a potential space close-by.

One thing is for certain; we’re going to throw a RAGER for our grand re-opening party!

Body Builders Gym in Silver Lake Closing After 45 Years For nearly 45 years now, Body Builders Gym has been known as the “Cheers of Silverlake.” Jonathan Gonzalez reports for the NBC4 News on Jan. 14, 2023.

On Tuesday 1/17/23, we will be open for our last day of operations @ our location on Hyperion Ave.
