This photo is one of my favorites. This pic was taken from the ‘93 Glen Helen national on the Friday practice day. The take off on this long downhill triple was super steep. The first time jumping it I literally felt my stomach drop like I was on a free fall ride! It was that huge! I can recall this moment as well. As I approached the take off, I knew that Jeff Dement didn’t do the triple but I was committed and was fairly certain I wouldn’t land on him. But as I launched off the take off I ended up directly above him. I was so high in the air that he was able to land and accelerate off and I came down right behind him. They ended up knocking the take off down on race day. Anyone remember what else was strange about this particular race?
