PSC - Indigenous Peoples Games

𝗜 ❤️ 𝗜𝗣 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗼! 🌟🏆

The Philippine Sports Commission successfully kicked off the Indigenous Peoples (IP) Games Mindanao Leg last weekend in San Agustin, Surigao del Sur, bringing together over 300 participants from the tribes of Mandaya, Manobo, and Mamanwa to showcase their traditional cultural skills and athletic excellence.

This program was made possible through the strong collaboration between the Philippine Sports Commission, headed by Commissioner Matthew 'Fritz' Gaston, Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur, Municipality of San Agustin headed by Mayor Nicolas Almeda and the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP).

The thrilling competition features tribes that are divided into five distinct clusters: Cluster 1 representing Lingig and Bislig City; Cluster 2 comprising Hinatuan, Tagbina, and Barobo; Cluster 3 covering Lianga, San Agustin, Marihatag, and Cagwait; Cluster 4 showcasing Bayabas, San Miguel, Tago, Tandag City, and Cortes; and Cluster 5 uniting Carrascal, Cantilan, Madrid, Carmen, and Lanuza.

The cultural games featured in this leg were Pagpilak (Speartm throwing), Tunod tu Pana (Archery), Kadang-kadang sa Kawayan, Hinang tu Pisi, Binogkutay (Tug of War), Binadju, Yajug, Eskrima, and Volleyball - Holding (Rattan).
