"Before coming to Nela I knew my way around a weight room and had even done CrossFit before. So when I arrived here I was just looking for a place to get a workout, but I got a lot more than I expected. Nela over the years has become a community I can rely on in my life.
I first Joined Nela back in 2020 in the middle of Covid. I started with a couple Private Training sessions and switched over to classes. Everything was so confusing during those times. We still worked out with masks on, and I remember drowning in my own sweaty mask, but the gym was so essential for me back then. It really helped me maintain a healthy daily balance in those crazy times.
One thing I've learned from Nela is that CrossFit is really hard, and some days it's okay to go easy on yourself. Whatever helps you to just keep showing up the next day, because the real magic happens with consistency. (which is something that I can not be that great at sometimes). I used to burn the candle pretty hard at both ends in my life and the consistency of the gym has really helped me stay steady in some stressful times in my life.
4. My favorite thing about Nela is that it is without a doubt the most welcoming CrossFit gym I have ever stepped into. It's welcoming to all sizes, ages, and skill levels. Everyone has slightly different reasons why they come to work out: To feel good. To look good. To push themselves. Or maybe to just show up. The culture at Nela makes space for everyone to pursue their goals without judgement or pressure. I think that's great.
I would say to anyone thinking about joining Nela to quit waiting and try it out! Starting is the hardest part! Nela is a lot of fun and a fantastic community of people, and for me it's been a big support system in my life. I came to the Gym just looking for a place to work out, and I got a lot more."
