• ACTIVE RELEASE TECHNIQUES
ART is a patented, state of the art soft tissue system/movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves.
Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART. [11/08/12]   FYI:

Digestive Enzymes are enzymes that specifically work in the digestive system to facilitate the digestion, absorption, and transportation of nutrients. They also work to promote timely elimination of digestive waste products that are not of use to the body. Without enzymes, our cells would not get adequate nutrition and we would not survive.

Enzymes function as catalysts to enhance and dramatically speed up biochemical reactions that occur in every one of our cells. They are only activated in water, so staying hydrated is very important for enzymes to work effectively. Enzymes must be present to ensure proper digestion of nutrients, energy production, metabolism, transportation of fluid to cells, and elimination of toxins among many other functions.

Enzymes exist in foods to help our body's breakdown what we eat. Raw, uncooked foods are the only foods that contain enzymes. Since the majority of our diets are cooked foods, we significantly limit the enzymes available in our food for digestion, thus putting more stress on our digestive systems. Some supplemental enzymes should be taken with food to enhance digestion and absorption of nutrients, whereas other supplemental enzymes should be taken on an empty stomach to support circulation, decrease inflammation, support our immune systems and combat stress. Imbalances in these factors have been scientifically proven to be associated with or the cause of numerous diseases.

[10/18/12]   The magic of green coffee bean extract:

- Chlorogenic acid, the key component of green coffee bean extract, is a powerful natural anitoxidant which combats free radicals in the blood stream. The affect is to slow down the aging process, and improve circulation and muscle tone.

- The major anti-oxidant in green coffee bean extract, chlorogenic acid, inhibits the release of the G6P enzyme which has been shown to significantly stabilizes blood sugar levels, so diabetics can definitely benefit from taking this supplement. Diabetics can also benefit greatly from any reduction in weight that may occur from taking green coffee bean extract, as well.

- Chlorogenic acid prevents the release of glucose into the blood stream the liver the metabolism increases which causes the liver to burn more fat, faster. These two processes also work together to prevent the body from absorbing and storing fat.

[10/10/12]   Client Appreciation:

Jon Jon,
I wrote you a letter in my head while I was walking through the Grand Canyon to the effect of thanking you tremendously for giving me the tools to get through a 26 mile hike without even practicing on a real hill.

During parts of the walking I was thinking how powerful my whole circumference was from my waist down to my feet. I was really well balanced and all the the steps with the dumbbells, leg swings, glute strengthening, kettle bell balancing, calf on the balance board, abductors, adductors etc. really helped. I was able to go really fast compared to most of the hikers.

My upper body handled everything really well also - no backaches or arm aches or shoulder aches - ZERO.
There is quite a bit of atypical body movements required besides walking - bending over to pitch a tent, reaching overhead to place the backpack on a 7 foot high rack (so squirrels won't rip into it). While walking, I was able to reach behind my head to access energy bars in the upper part of the backpack. This required opening and closing a zippered compartment located directly behind my neck. I credit this ability to the work you gave me for my upper back, triceps and the flexibility exercises.

As far as my feet - I did not get one single blister on my feet. I think part of the reason is because my whole lower body was in shape, I did not have to pound and slide as hard as you would expect on the rocky and uneven terrain.

The last day was a 5 mile incline which I did in 2 1/2 hours. This was at a comfortable rate of 2 miles per hour. The rule of thumb is the average uphill speed for first time hikers is 1 mile per hour. That means I did DOUBLE the average speed and I was not rushing at all PLUS I was carrying a 25 pound backpack.

To get through the hike with my son and brother in law was a really special accomplishment for me and I can't thank you enough for being a huge part of the experience.

One common complaint from most of the inexperienced hikers is that you can only prepare for downhill walking by practicing on a hill. No one has invented a system to develop the required muscles in a gym - therefore, most develop a condition called "canyon legs" which leaves one hobbling after a long downhill walk. I did experience a degree of this but it faded away after the first day.
