Gideon,

Huge thanks to the team at Pedalers Fork for supporting SBT GRVL, SCC Tech, and the BAHATI FOUNDATION’s effort to diversify and expand the reach of bikes. News segment highlighting Rahsaan Bahati & his foundation, BAHATI FOUNDATION who donated bikes for Giving Tuesday 🙌 Him and a few of his teammates recently rode 3,000 miles to help bring awareness and raise money for the foundation that looks to inspire inner city youth to rise above their circumstances 💯
"This year was different. Rahsaan and team and crew were riding to raise $50,000 to help Los Angeles families recover from tragic events and to teach the kids left behind about financial literacy and transform their tragedy into a lifelong source of income and learning."

Peloton Magazine caught up with Rahsaan Bahati (Rahsaan Bahati) about his 2021 Race Across America effort, in which he and his team not only won but also raised money for a great cause in the process.

Giant ambassador Rahsaan Bahati and Team Thin Energy didn't enter Race Across America just to win. They were racing to change lives.

Three thousand miles, 12 states, over 175,000 feet of climbing. That's what Team Thin Energy was facing in the 2021 Race Across America. But their challenge, going flat out as fast as they could from Oceanside, California, to Annapolis, Maryland, was nothing compared to that faced by the kids they were riding for.

Absolutely devastated to learn of the passing of Sule. Being a world away from his home in Kenya, my heart breaks for his family. There is a GoFundMe set up to help his wife and child with this untimely death while he was away racing in America. Just sad sad sad. Condolences to his family and friends. 💔

Went to Nationals last week and left it all on the road. Didn’t go as I had planned and more times than none that’s life. To say I’m disappointed would be an understatement but that’s one reason I like bike racing. Knowing how good you’re not keeps me grounded and hungry. Time to put the legs up and start riding with friends again. Anyone for a beer ride?

Super hot day in Utah yesterday. I still have a lot of work to do, my legs were just not good but managed to get second behind Charon Smith.

Over the last several weeks my life has been a complete rollercoaster. I’ve dealt with so much adversity in my life it doesn’t even bother anymore. What I’m saying is, if Murphey’s Law is knocking, answer, take the hit on the chin and keep going. You will be surprised what’s at the other end but you will never see it if you give up.

As I await my tacos, I’m just grateful that Napoleon didn’t take over Mexico. Could you imagine life without bomb ass street tacos if the French actually won the war? It’s not often talked about but it was freed slaves that came to the frontline and helped the Mexican army beat the French. So while you indulge tonight and throw back shots of tequila, know that lives were sacrificed so you can have an excuse to get crazy. If you can enjoy your guacamole you should respect the brown and black people that forded you that luxury.

Welp, I did it again. @belgianwaffleride did not dissapoint. The goal for me was to complete the race under 8 hrs and in order to do that I would have to push the entire race but not go too deep. I also wanted to ride my road bike to make up time on the road sections. I think my strategy was pretty good.
So what I did was add some 42 @cadexcycling wheels with 32’ CADEX classic tires and I was Gucci. The only thing I would change is not running a standard crank (53x39) On some of the steeper dirt climbs it became a bit much as I was over geared.

The first 80-90 miles I felt pretty good. I didn’t feel like I was going to slow down at all. Right around 110 miles (27 miles to go) my speed just declined minute by minute.

I would take some sugar on and that would give me a 10min boost but when that went out, I was back to riding zone 2 and loosing lots of time. It was great to ride the last 3 hours with @andrewjackson_ . We were pretty much feeling the same and encouraged each other to keep pushing as we shared pulls. I ended up going faster than I thought over the last climb called Double Peak. This climb is like adding salt to an open wound but the reward is a fast decent down to the last gravel section which is also downhill.

I finished the 137 mile race in 8hr 40min and I should also add, no mechanicals and no flats. Shoutout to @giantbicyclesusa and @cadexcycling for making dope equipment.

@ibemmx and his team deserves all the kudos and praise for offering our community a grueling community event. 🍻

How far back do you want to go? In 2009 I decided I would control my own destiny and create my own Pro Cycling Team. Our very first race before we had a camp or even team kits, we raced the Merced Crit and Road Race. My good mate Matty Rice made the break and broke them off something special to take our first win as the Bahati Foundation Pro Cycling Team and then, Hilton Clarke and I cleaned 🧼 up the field sprint to sweep 🧹 the podium. Sounds familiar?

The two fast machines that won us @raceacrossamerica .

The @giantbicyclesusa is an absolute brilliant bike. Perfect shapes in the tubes giving you the perfect compliance vs stiffness. Some are always stuck on how stiff a bike is, too much stiffness becomes counterproductive as you’re wasting valuable energy fighting the bike. I think Giant has perfected the .

The Giant looks amazing and is just as amazingly fast. Throw the custom paint and it’s a match made in heaven.

Really excited to get the next project on the road as I team up with my guy @mphpaint who have done 2 of my custom giants (not pictured).

I realized the other day I do a lot of different things; in life, in my professional life, home life, on the bike, etc. wouldn’t change it at all. Let’s do it all 🤣

Spent the last few days at the @seaotterclassic in . My time was specifically with @cadexcycling & @giantbicyclesusa. It was humbling to meet so many people who are fans and supporters of my work. I only took one picture as I was focusing on being in the moment. However, I couldn’t help but snap a pic with these gents @eliotjackson & @paysonmcelveen.

Swipe↔️ For those who don’t know. I did this for almost a decade as a pro. It’s disrespectful seeing these young eaters look at me like I just started. 🤣 Looking back on the racing scene, things were totally different; racing was different, the players were different, the courses were different. Promoters put the riders first, the host cities showed up and showed out. It’s up to all of us to get it back. Are you in? Okay, continue with your day.

The water falls in Devils Den are stunning. Only 45 min from Downtown Bentonville you will find this stunning park has natural falls and water korris. @eliotjackson and I had the opportunity to be the first cyclists to check out the new trails. It’s time to retire this bike. It holds a lot of meaning and I have an emotional attachment to it but it’s much bigger than me. When my homie Mike from @mphpaint sat down with me to work on a new design, his forethought coupled with my disgust at the world at the time, we came up with this master piece. Looking for ideas of where it should be. Sitting in my house serves no purpose. Where should it’s new home be? .

Geeked to announce 📣 I have extended my agreement with @giantbicyclesusa for the foreseeable future. Here is something I’m very proud to say. It’s the first time in my cycling career a company sees true value in me as what I bring to the table. It’s the first time we looked at an agreement and didn’t need to negotiate. I do more than what I’m paid for and that’s ok. They say you should find something you love to do and find someone to pay you to do it.

What do you love to do?
