🧚♀️ My favorite descent! I call this one the Chair Glissade. It may look effortless, but there’s quite a bit of technique and control behind it. ✨ Full tutorial available on Aerial Physique TV!

Technique Tip: Can-Can Climb 🦵✨ A fun intermediate-level climb that builds off the Russian Climb!
To set yourself up for success, I suggest warming up your hamstrings and practicing active strength with your leg lifted to the front.
Step-by-Step Breakdown:
🔹 Start in a Russian Climb
I recommend beginning from one climb up, as starting from the mat can be tricky.
From long arms, lift one leg up high toward your chest, with the silk to the outside of your foot.
🔹 Scoop the Tail
Use your opposite leg to scoop the tail, aiming to place it on your knee or higher.
Draw a rainbow path from out to in, guiding the silk to land near the outside of your hip, then cross your legs.
🔹 Sit & Stand
Sit onto your heel, then press through the standing leg to rise up.
Reach hands high to reset and lengthen both legs down.
🔹 Repeat
Scoop ➡️ Sit ➡️ Stand.
Once you’re comfortable, work toward blending it into one smooth motion.
💡 Pro Tips:
– That circular leg pathway helps the tail land higher
– Focus on control before speed
🚫 Common Mistakes:
❌ Tail wraps too low (around the ankle)
✅ Fix: Aim to scoop the tail around the knee or higher for better placement and an easier stand-up.
❌ Kicking straight forward instead of circling
✅ Fix: Use an out-to-in leg circle for a more secure and effective wrap.
❌ Skipping the warm-up
✅ Fix: Do 10 leg kicks & 10 leg circles per side.
Then try this active flexibility drill: Sit tall, extend one leg in front, and grab your ankle. Let go and hold your leg in place for a count of 10, keeping a long spine.
Try it out and let me know how it goes below! 👇
🌀Technique Tip: Dive Roll (Front Salto)
There are many pathways into this, here’s one from Hip Key (the very first one I learned!)
The Set-Up:
Start in a Hip Key. From a keyed-over position, your top arm swims the tail behind your back. Both hands grab the pole as you sit up. Turn slightly away to scoop the tail between your legs, then key back over.
Pass the tail behind your bum to your top shoulder using your bottom hand. Your top arm scoops at the wrist and guides it behind your neck and over the shoulder, not in front.
Sit up and begin to pass your shoulders forward. I prefer to grab with the thumb pointing down for a more secure hold.
The Roll:
Remove the tail from your shoulder and grab it at about a 45° angle from your hip with at least a forearm’s length of slack. Release your top hand to initiate the dive.
Keep your body flat as you rotate. Drive the heels down to support the rotation and help you return upright. Grab the pole with your free hand, avoid letting your hand sit too close to your hip.
The Exit:
Option 1: Pass the tail to the side you were holding, invert to straddle, hook the opposite knee, release one hand at a time, arrive in an opposite knee hook.
Option 2: Guide the tail to your opposite side, invert, hook the opposite knee into a Z wrap (U lock). Windmill down, then unwrap or climb and key over.
Common Mistakes
❌ Not staying keyed over during wrap set up
Head lifts too early or top hip loses contact with pole
❌ Tail in front
Keep it behind your neck and over the shoulder
❌ Not enough slack
Arm ~45° from hip with at least a forearm’s length
❌ Piking
Folding at the hips stops the rotation
🔔 Important Note:
This entry can feel uncomfortable through the groin for some bodies. Adjust placement, wear supportive clothing and guide the wrap slightly off-center. If this entry isn't for you, that's ok!

Happy Friday friends!
This week we are so so excited to feature Addy who is such a fluid, precise, graceful aerialist with beautiful lines and technique! 💛
In Addy’s words:
“My name is Addy and I’m a teenage aerialist from Australia. 💛
Aerial has been a big part of my life since I was 7 years old. I love performing, connecting with music, and using movement to tell stories and express emotion in a way people can relate to.
Recently, I achieved one of my biggest dreams by winning Nationals (Australia) in Advanced Lyra 13–17 years (bend the air) something I had dreamed about since I was 10 years old. It reminded me that dreams really do come true.
One thing I’ve learned is that progress doesn’t always happen quickly, and that’s okay. Every journey looks different, and the most important thing is to keep going and find joy in what you do.” 💛
