The CMS women won the SCIAC Track and Field Championships over the weekend. Winners included Hanna Tarleton ’17 (CMC) in the 400 (56.85), Amy Hollshwandner ’17 (CMC) in the 400 hurdles (64.04), Ellyn Erving ’14 (SCR), with a meet record in the triple jump (39-5), Vaiva Palunas ’17 (SC) in the discus (38.00), and the 4 x 400 relay team of Meg O'Keefe ’14 (HMC), Hollshwandner, Alex Arnett ’16 (CMC) and Tarleton (3:55.70). The CMS men won the SCIAC Track and Field Championships and their 21st overall SCIAC title. Winners included Evan Molineux ’16 (CMC) in the 1,500 (3:52.96), Jonathan Briskman ’14 (CMC) breaking a 35-year-old meet record in the 5,000 (14:44.02), Matt Wong ’17 (CMC) in the triple jump (46-11) and Sam Perrella ’15 (CMC) in the hammer (162-5).

The CMS women won all four matchups over the weekend in the final SCIAC dual meets. The Athenas competed against Redlands, Chapman, Whittier and Occidental. Ellyn Erving ’14 (SCR) was the only double winner for the Athenas, taking first in the long jump (18-3.25) and triple jump (39-6.5). The CMS men were 2-1 over the weekend in the final SCIAC dual meets. The Stags beat Whittier and Occidental, with their only loss to Redlands. Evan Molineux ’16 (CMC) led a 1-2-3-4 CMS sweep in the 1,500 meters. Join your Stags and Athenas next Friday and Saturday at Occidental College as they compete for SCIAC Championships!

The CMS track & field teams competed at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on Saturday and recorded 24 personal bests. The meet featured over 1,500 athletes and as many as 18 sections of some events. Justin Jones ’16 (HMC) recorded a personal best in the 1,500 with a time of 3:59.74. The team will compete again this Saturday, April 19 against Chapman, Occidental and Redlands in the final SCIAC dual meets of the year. Alex Arnett ’16 (CMC) won her section of the 1,500 meters with a personal best time of 4:58.41. Nicole Laliberte ’17 (CMC) won her flight of the shot put with a personal best of 9.78 m. Vaiva Palunas (SC) and Nicole Laliberte also threw significant personal bests in the hammer. The team will compete again this Saturday, April 19 against Chapman, Occidental, and Redlands in the final SCIAC dual meet of the year.

Men’s Track & Field
A select group of athletes competed at the California/Nevada Championships at UC San Diego over the weekend. Matt Wong ’17 (CMC) set the CMS record in the long jump at 7.19 meters. His mark currently leads the SCIAC and is ranked second nationally for Division III. The entire team will compete next weekend at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational.

Women’s Track & Field
A select group of Athenas competed this weekend at the California/Nevada Championships at UC San Diego. Ellyn Erving ’14 (SCR) won the triple jump competition and currently leads the nation with a distance of 12.06 meters. Her mark is third best in SCIAC history and currently leads the nation for Division III. The entire team will compete the following weekend at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational.

The men's and women's track & field teams both beat Caltech and Pomona-Pitzer in SCIAC dual meets contested at Occidental last Saturday. The men's respective scores were 138-16 and 92-71 while the women's were 134-20 and 89-73. The Stags are 4-0 in SCIAC competition and the Athenas are 2-2.
CMS had 14 outright winners and 30 personal best performances. A select group of athletes will compete this weekend at the California/Nevada Championships at UC San Diego Friday-Saturday, April 4-5. The entire team will compete the following weekend at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational.

The CMS Track and Field team competed in the Cunningham Invitational at the University Nevada-Las Vegas and the Irwin College Meet at Point Loma. Junior Madison Knaub (CMC) ran season-best times in the 100 meters (12.82) and 200 meters (26.42), while the 4 x 400 relay ran a conference-leading time at 4:00.02. Senior Meg O’Keefe (HMC), senior Ellyn Erving (SCR), freshman Amy Hollshwander (CMC) and freshman Hanna Tarleton (CMC) made up the relay team. Freshmen Vaiva Palunas (SC), Amanda Maheras (SC), Nicole Laliberte (CMC) and Raquel Selcer (SC) all achieved personal bests in either the shot, discus, or hammer. The full team will next compete in SCIAC dual meets with Caltech, Occidental and Pomona-Pitzer at Occidental on Saturday, March 29.

The CMS track and field team competed in the Cunningham Invitational at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas and the Irwin College Meet at Point Loma. Freshman Matt Wong (CMC) recorded a conference-leading mark in the triple jump at 45-1.75. Freshman Senghor Joseph (HMC) ran a season best in the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.61. Sophomore Alex Rich (HMC) placed in the top three in hammer, discus, and shot. The full team will next compete in SCIAC dual meets with Caltech, Occidental and Pomona-Pitzer at Occidental on Saturday, March 29.

Oxy Distance carnival efforts yield 31 personal bests and two national leading times.

The distance runners competed at the Occidental Distance Carnival on Friday night and recorded 31 personal bests along with 13 seasonal bests in 49 races. National leading times were turned in by Jon Briskman winning the 10000 meters (30:34.61) and by Evan Molineux in the 1500 meters (3:52.0). Briskman's time is second in CMS and sixth in SCIAC history.

The sprinters, hurdles, jumpers and throwers will compete on Saturday, March 22 at the Randall Cunningham Invitational at UNLV. The entire team will compete again when they resume SCIAC competition on March 29 at Occidental.

Women’s Track & Field
CMS hosted the first SCIAC competition of the season with dual meets against Cal Lutheran and La Verne. Despite having an advantage in the running events, the women lost both: 85-78 to Cal Lutheran, and 90-73 to La Verne. The Athenas had two double winners on the day: freshman Hanna Tarleton (CMC) in the 200 and 400 meters, and senior Ellyn Erving (SCR) in the long and triple jumps. The team will next compete in the Occidental Distance Carnival on Friday, March 14.
