I read something recently that said, "God could be anointing you to sit your butt down for a season and that's holy too." 💕 More so than not in today's day and age, hustle culture is glorified, idolized even. Moreover, our value seems to be greatly tied to our output 🛠However, in seasons of "sitting your butt down", preparation can be taking place for what is next and this is crucial. It is in the "sitting your butt down" seasons that keep us from moving ahead unprepared and ultimately getting in our own way 🌞
Whether you are in a season of sitting or standing, both have purpose. Trust the season you are in and know in due time, seasons change ♥️

Coming off a week of wonderful family time, along with having had the honor of teaching this week (and next) 🧘🏽♀️in various addiction centers, my heart is so full, and I could not feel more grateful 💕 •

July has been full of confronting mindsets, shifting perspectives, tuning in, looking out, looking up, sunbathing without tan lines, reevaluations, new beginnings, moments with my favorite people, new books, new music, old music, making plans, relinquishing plans, gratitude, taking myself way too seriously, taking things at face value, creativity, explorations, bravery, and letting go ✨ Can’t wait to see what August holds.

For me, the combination of running and yoga is *Italian chef kiss 😘 Last June I ran my first marathon, and to date, I am up to marathon number 3. While my PR hasn’t shifted…at all…I have found for these first few, just finishing has been the goal 😅 Maybe on the next one, time will be more important 🙃 …but then again, maybe not.

Regardless, yoga has been a wonderful adjunct modality to my training circuits, and as a result, I have had zero injury or pain (besides the normal soreness). I know my alignment awareness, foot strike, gait, etc. have all been made more efficient as a result of my yoga practice.

Thankful to have both of these outlets 🧘🏽♀️🏃🏽♀️Ones that offer various benefits and experiences in their own ways, yet complement each other so well 💕I’m biased, but I believe yoga is such a necessary add-on as part of any fitness regimen…good for the mind, body, and soul.

Savasana. Arguably the most important pose in a ‘yogasana’ practice (& life), and yet, arguably the hardest 😳 Why? Our brains are constantly telling us there’s more to do, more to give our attention to, more to figure out, to take care of, etc. Moreover, the challenge lies, not only in the resting part, but, more specifically, in the staying present part. There is a constant battle for our attention 👀

“You can’t breathe a breath for yesterday and you can’t breathe a breath for tomorrow. Your breath is the one thing that can connect you back to your present moment.” I was in yoga class the other day where the teacher said this, and I LOVEDDD IT ♥️ It got me thinking...

“Blossom where you are planted.” This has been a theme in my life that I strive to consistently pursue 🌻 However, I have been met with the reality, especially as of late, that I have been falling short of this, epicallyyy.
•
I want to actively hold space for what is directly in front of me. Not worrying about tomorrow’s plans, while also trying to give my attention to something or someone else 🌾

This year has represented a lot for me personally thus far. However, despite the changes and the unknowns, I do not want to miss the present due to being more concerned about the future ✨ Not trying to be two places at once, but rather to push further into what is directly in front of me. Wherever I am, being all there, including when I allow time for rest 🐚 In the end, we cannot affect change if we are not present where we stand (or lie 🙃)

Matthew 6:34-"Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow.”

Tonight I was able to participate in a Y12SR class, Yoga for 12 Step Recovery. It was so powerful. Without fail, the theme of the night was the recognition of the imperative need to include the physical body, the mental body, and the spiritual body when it comes to healing and restoration, addiction or not.

This evening only reaffirmed my heart towards what I am pursuing and the why behind it…Creating a space where people are able to find that connection, that wholeness, and in the process are reminded they are not alone.
